Drove about 50 miles,as I got home stopped at my mailbox. Backed up a little and shift to drive. Backend felt like it slid ( foot still on brake) and truck slams into 4th. I shut it of and restarted a few times then engine light came on. Tried the key 3 times didn't get a code. Battery is disconnected now.
Any ideas?

I think 4th is the limp mode, whenever there is a transmission fault detected it shifts to 4 and stays there, so you can limp to the dealer.

This would be correct.

Mine went into limp mode with no warning at all. At first gave no codes either. Finally did, unfortunately I do not know what the codes said. Took it to the dealer and they replaced the "valve body?"

Sucked to be with out my truck for a few days. But it was all covered under warranty. I had about 60k on the odometer. PLUS...... I got a free truck wash and a free transmission service -new trans oil and filter. So I was pretty happy it happened cause I was gonna have to do that real soon and it saved me a couple hundred bucks!

I guess I didn't mention I knew it was limp home mode. But with winter weather and how it drove I had it towed to dealer. I felt good about that decision. I do have road service/towing because of my health issues. Since I didn't get response right away on here. I did some ( a lot of) searching and figured best to worst case scenarios. Dealer did say valve body and solenoid pack. But I only see solenoid pack or slip.
I'm glad I still have the factory warranty, and I got a free loaner. I got a Dart as no trucks or jeeps available. Not ever driving one again. [emoji33]. Not just a Dart any car. But I'm not very confident in this repair or the trucks dependability. Too many have had this issue.
I bought it May of 15 with around 27,000 it now has 35,000 miles on a 2012. Factory warranty ends soon. I'm disabled and can't afford this type of repair nor an extended warranty.
