Mine has never done this. My wife had a 2005 Durango she bought new and after a couple years it would. If you let the pump run full force it would blow gas back out like it was under a lot of pressure, and go everywhere. I was getting gas next to a woman filling up her Durango once and it did the same thing.

My Durango did that too those were recalled and I was able to get mine replaced that way way back when although mine technically was not part of the recall.

We just lived with it until we sold it and bought a 2014 Journey. It goes in tomorrow for at least the second recall and to see about the screaming sound it makes when it starts during really cold weather.

I am guessing it has the 3.6L pentastar? Completely normal our 2014 Town and Country does it and so does my parents 2014 Grand Caravan.

From what I've read it is common with the V-6 but it can't hurt to have it on paper in case something blows apart later.

The vans have a pulley they can replace to correct the problem. FCA says it is not an issue but annoying. I had my wife’s van fixed. I didn’t have my moms fixed. I don’t know if it is on other pentastars not in the vans.

Thanks for the info on this mod. I drive 1000 miles a week to and from work and have been looking to reduce my stops.

I have a similar commute and have been thinking of doing this mod.

The 3 hours a day in the car is the only quiet that I get. :)

I guess I'll be bring this post back once again. I just picked up a 2016 Ram 1500 Rebel, and have been doing research on this topic. I wanted to see if you also need to replace the sending unit aswell. If so do you happen to have the part number for that. The part number the tank I found was 68242021AC. Lastly, did you have to take your truck it to get the computer reprogrammed for the new gear?

You just swap the tank the fuel pump and everything else is the same. The gauge will read correct however there have been many complaints that the tank is not even close to empty when the gauge says it is. I think something like 6 gallons remain when the gauge says empty. Basically too much reserve built in.

When you do gears they don’t mess with the speedo. Only changing tire size will mess with speedo. So if you regear you don’t need to do a thing with the speedo to have it be accurate. If you go to say a 34 or 35 inch tire that will need to be adjusted if you want accurate speedo.

I forgot to mention, the reason why I'm asking is because my local Ram dealership want $1670 before taxes to do the swap.

FYI, if you have remote start upgrading to the larger tank will frustrate you as the sending unit does not know you have more fuel. My auto start will kill the engine when the low fuel light is on even though I have 6 gallons left. It is also slightly unnerving to drive long distances on the highway with the low fuel light on for 80 miles or so even though you know you will be fine. There is a fix for newer trucks but not 2017 and older I don't believe.

****** me off because I love the remote start. If my truck is sitting in the sun in July it's awful inside here in Houston. If it would just not start I'd be more ok with it. Starting and shutting down right away is not good for the engine.
