I just bought a 2014 4x4 Ram Laramie, 5.7 Hemi. I can't find it anywhere in the manual. And I didn't ask.... Question is, when you put it in any 4x4 mode, is it a true 4x4 mode? All 4 wheels going in the same direction, or like some where off setting tire are only working?
Thanks:favorites13:

There are plenty of posts on this....but unless you special order it, you won't get a true 4x4 from the factory.

Mainly because a true 4x4 (all 4 tires pull evenly) would give some weird steering issues to deal with, and the liability isn't worth it to the factory.

@Web52 , #1 Welcome to the Forum from Tennessee.
Read lots , post lots and help others when you can !

#2 what xsmn do you have ? 6 speed or 8 speed

#3 what Xsfer case do you have BW44-44 or the 44-45 ?

Please take a photo and post here of your 4x4 position knob .

The -45 Xsfers case is the better of the two FYI.

Hopefully others will post up some responses to more clearly answer you concerns .

@ malatu , I know it's frustrating when someone ask a question that's been answered many times Sir , but Damn this guy has TWO total post here ....give him a break man .

Sorry, but I did answer his question...exactly.

He asked if there was a true 4x4 mode...and the simple answer is no. To do that would require a limited slip or better in the front axle, as well as the rear.

Just cuz the transfer case says 4x4 on the switch, doesn't mean all 4 tires will pull equally.

There are special edition trucks you can buy (power wagon, certain jeeps, etc) that come with much better or maybe even locking front diffs, but they have pages of warnings in the manuals about driving them with the front engaged and the quirks that come as a result.

It's all good....but not sure why it needs to be in lifted.....I saw nothing that indicated he wasn't stock in his post.

The lifted thread would likely have more 4x4 enthusiasts , therefore more folks with 4x4 Xsfer case knowledge imo

The most you're going to get really is 3 wheel drive, two rear, one front, and that's if you don't have an open diff in the back / front, 99% of the ram's produced will be 2WD, one front, one rear.

Happy offroading!
