For those that do your own service.
Here is a alternative to the $240-$300 stock pan.

This option even has a removable replacement filter kit.

ATP B-453 Automatic Transmission Oil Pan/Integrated Filter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01J1LPZ26/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_4Xvryb2KH0VX7

I need to get my Ram into the custom exhaust shop to have the drivers side exhaust rerouted. Even draining the pan is almost impossible with the exhaust pipe directly below the drain plug.

When I input my 2016 1500 it tells me that pan won't fit my truck... and yes, I have the 8HP70...

The 8 speeds are used in a number of different vehicles and there are a lot of different pans out there for them. Some hold more fluid that others.

At least the aftermarket has some alternatives now. Give it couple more years I bet there will be even more options

Amazon's fitment guide is not exactly the best. Tells you some stuff fits when it does not and other times tells you it does not fit when you know damn well it does.

I always verify elsewhere before before relying on Amazon's fitment guide before purchase.

This will work on our trucks? I have 74000 on mine and would like to service it in the spring before trailer pulling season.

Gump: from the description below it claims the pan is for the 8HP70! I can not guarantee nothing.

It seems to be an ideal replacement. Especially with a removable & replacement filter.

My RAM only has 21,000 miles on her. If she was closer to 50K I would be the guinea pig and order one. Since I added a spin on transmission filter kit to my 8HP70 I actually might not have to drop my Pan till the 100K mile mark.

In the description it said it is sold by True Blue Parts. I am going to see if I can contact them and ask them

http://trueblueparts.com/M/Catalog/Default.aspx

I am at work and can't call them for 24 hours. If someone else wants to take it upon themselves to give them a call and ask for more information I would be grateful!

There is one review of this item. It was from a Ram owner. Who claims this is the ideal fit for the 8HP70!

One thing that I have found is this transmission is used in many different makes and models of automobiles. So the search feature might not be too useful. I feel as long as the pan fits the 8HP70 transmission we are golden. ( this is just my opinion )

ATP Automotive's web site doesn't show any fitment for this pan on any Ram truck. It does show some fitment for some of the Dodge Hemis, but nothing for the trucks. Also when using the search by vehicle option, nothing related to the 8HP70 appears for the Ram trucks.

I'm not personally not worried about changing it. My 08 silverado wasn't recommended to change it till 100k. I traded it in at a 100k and had no problems with it.
