I took the truck in because it always seemed to drop the front drivers side suspension all the way down when parked.
Dealer said air bag was leaking and replaced it.

Truck still wouldn't go up to of road 2

Dealer open case with ram, they said to replace a sensor, still wont go into off road 2. Just keeps blinking.

They said they purged the nitrogen and refilled it. No change.

Truck will go up, but won't complete off road 2.

Now they are waiting for a tech from Chrysler.

Any info or input is appreciated.

No leaks either in air lines or valve body? Weak compressor? I'm guessing they will replace the compressor and valve body next. There may be a sensor calibration procedure.

They have been calibrating for days, they said they didn't have another truck on the lot to compare it to, which seemed ridiculous. I think the compressor is next, but they are waiting for Chrysler. At what point do I start shaking the trees over there. They gave me a loaner truck, but I'd much rather have my own.

If it's a smaller dealer, then it's possible they don't have a 1500 with air suspension. They're not super common to be honest, see more now that the Rebel is out, but it's a slightly different system.

Shaking trees probably isn't going to get anything happening any quicker. If they're waiting on parts or a field tech then it's just a waiting game. Going in and making scene won't get parts/people there any faster.

There's certain protocols that have to be done when dealing with problematic cases, and sometimes it makes repairs take longer which agrivates both the customer and the techs trying to fix it. No tech wants to keep working on the same vehicle for the same problem.

If the system raises up, then I doubt it's the compressor. It's just moving nitrogen from the tank to the valve block, then the valve block distributes. OR2 is 2 levels above NRH, maybe try entry/exit to OR1? That's 3 levels, if it does it then it can't be the compressor as it running longer for that quick test. I'd be guessing valve block. The last one I worked on, I had to write the height values 2 or 3 times before it would sit right. The first write enabled the system to cycle, but still leaned. Did it again & it got better.

Im assuming system air mass has been checked & is OK? If so, what was the reading? Spec is around 2200 psi. Have they tried an individual short & full fill on the L/F? Are all sensors securely mounted?

I'll pop in tomorrow and talk to the tech. See what he has to say.

Good luck & I'm curious about what they say.

Also, did they check system mass before refilling? There might be a leak in the L/F line circuit or spring, maybe slow leak like a tire.

Good point, air mass seems a common thing to miss or overlook if the tech is not familiar with the system.

Hi KSH,

I know you said in a later post you were going to be calling or stopping in to your dealer for an update. Please let me know if you would like a follow up from me as well. Just PM your VIN if I can help.

The system is fairly simple as far as operation goes. However it's spread out across the entire vehicle (wiring & lines). Most of the parts are buried & it's still a fairly new system. This makes it kind of intimidating to diagnose & work on. Hopefully they get it figured out soon.

Do I need to worry about them putting everything back together correctly?

Changing the compressor is pretty straight forward, then there is a refill procedure that their test equipment will lead them through. Its not nearly as complicated as pulling the intake manifold or a head.

I'd love to know the outcome of this problem. Thinking of this option on my next vehicle but maybe not.

I should hear from them later today. Service manager said this is the first time they've worked on one.

Things like this always made me wonder if getting this extra system would make me regret it. I didn't end up having that particular truck long enough. Best of luck.

Well, they said it's working now. I'll find out Monday when I pick it up.

Dealer said everything was working. Went yesterday and it won't get to off-road 1-or 2. Will just keep blinking. If the truck is shutoff and started again it says it's in the right mode. Now they say the need to level it. We're on our third week..
