So I contacted the Ram dealership I purchased my 2012 QC from and discussed what I was after. I'm planning on a 4x4 RCSB and they aren't exactly plentiful so I wanted to order one. I was told it was too late to order a 2017 and too early to order a 2018. Crap :baby:

I found a fleet management website that said ordering for the 2018s would open the first week of June but production wouldn't begin until the 3rd week of August, does that sound about right from previous years?

I'm anxious to see what changes they make to the 2018. I hope they don't get too caught up in making similar design changes to Ford/Chevy/GMC, I don't care for the looks of any of them at the moment.

Anyone got the scoop of what & when to expect the 2018s?

That time frame sounds about right. I work auto manufacturing. We normally run model change around mid July, with full production come mid-August.

From what I've heard that the 2018(or Gen 5) isn't supposed to go on sale till the first of the year. Production is shifting to the renovated Sterling Assembly. It's even possible that the current body style will still be produced for a while to keep up with current orders/demand.
I would take a guess that the new body style will be revealed at the Texas Auto Writers Truck show this fall.

That would be unfortunate to say the least. I'm going to need a truck before deer season kicks off the week of Halloween. If I can't get a 2018 I'm not sure what I'll do, finding what I want on a lot is highly unlikely and I am absolutely not a fan of buying used.

The RAM 1500 2018 build begins August 21st with the new RAM HD coming at the end of this year as a 2019 model.

Why do you NEED a new truck ?? Won't the 2012 last another year ??? or another hunting season at least ??

Shoot, my 2012 barely has 21k on it......and 1/2 of that is from 3 trips to FL and 1 to AR from VA...............it still looks new, especially inside.

Some want the latest and greatest.

I get that...but why BEFORE hunting season...why not after ??

That way the old truck gets abused, not the new.............

The 2012 was supposed to be "my" truck. My wife travels for business occasionally and I knew she would use it for that but otherwise I intended to keep the miles low. Her occasional use turned into daily use and it now has 65k miles on it in less than 4 years. It's basically hers now which is fine but I need a truck as well so I'm buying another one. Sold our Jeep yesterday so I'll pay the 2012 off next week and get another truck before deer season.

Same here I always buy used with less than 20,000 miles. Still has factory warranty . I also buy only RCSB so sometimes I have to do a little searching but I always get what I want , never a compromise . Let the last owner take the biggest beating.
