Just bought my first Ram! As some of you may know, I was trying to decide between going with another Ford or switching it up and going to Ram.

I pulled the plug yesterday and bought a 2017 1500 Sport Night edition Crew Cab. I went along with the your guys' recommendation and got the 3.92 gear and I'm happy with it so far.

Initial comparisons after my first day driving it. Drove from Orange County to LA and back;
-UConnect Navi sucks. I am not impressed and will be deeply missing having Apple Car Play. Deeply...
-The interior is very nice compared to my F150 but I do miss the amount of space the F150 offers in the cab. Pretty noticeable difference in size/space.
-I LOVE the 5.7 Hemi. Lots of power. A little less zippy than the 2.7L Twin Turbo on the F150 but you can feel the power behind the V8. EXTREMELY smooth drive. Feels a lot more sturdy than the F150 while driving.
-Back up camera is a little lower quality than that of the F150. Not dramatically worse but definitely noticeable.

I do have a question regarding my estimated fuel range.
When I filled up my F150 (36g fuel tank), i would get about 700 miles until I had to refuel. I have a 26g fuel tank in my 1500. Filled up it says a little under 300 miles till empty. Now is this number because the truck is brand new and needs some miles to adjust and take an average? How many miles do you 26g guys normally get off a full tank? Do you guys just use lower grade octane? (87 mostly in Southern California) or do you go with something higher? (89,91).

Congrats! Nice! Good luck with the ram.

I can't answer your other questions. Remember you just nearly doubled your displacement, so mileage is not going to be what you got with the little 6 banger, but you gotta pay to play.

I run 89 in my 6.4 because that's what is recommended. Consult your owners manual

I have a 2016 with the 5.7L I run 89 octane and average close to 17 mpg. Depending on how I'm driving of course. But I almost always get over 400 miles before i need to refuel.

When I had my 2016 1500 w/ 3.92 gears I ran 89 for 5 tanks and then 87 for 5 tanks. I could not tell a noticeable difference in terms of performance, however I did get better mileage with 89 (2-3 mpg). However, with 89 being .15-.20 more than 87, by the time you averaged out the mpg to cost they came out to be within .01 cents per mile. So, bottom line, run what you like. 2016 owners manual recommended 89, but said 87 wouldn't hurt.

When I first got my truck it said 500km til empty, but after a couple days of driving, the next time I filled up it jumped to 900km til empty. I have the bigger tank (121L), but yeah, it just needs time. To calibrate itself.
