Which Brake Fluid for 2012?

Hi.
The manual says Dot 3, same as the master cylinder. I assume it's just regular brake fluid, right? Didn't read anything about synthetic fluid.

Lastly, I pretty much have been using the same brake fluid for years, but is there such a thing as incompatibility issues between different brands?

It will say on the bottle. My manual says DOT 3 recommended but DOT 4 is acceptable. You should be able to find DOT 3 easily and I never had any compatibility issues using a decent brake fluid. Would there by any way to know what brand of brake fluid is in it anyway?

Not really. I just bought the truck from a dealer that was a trade-in. From papers I found floating around inside, the previous owner owned it about 2 yrs. Both were independent dealers. The fluid looks pretty fresh actually.
