Cummins r2.8 "repower"

Cummins Reveals "Repower" Diesel Crate Engine Program at SEMA 2016 – #TENSEMA16

Ok guys so im just BS'ing here at work and I stumbled on this. the Cummins "repower" R2.8 inline 4 diesel engine that is said to go into the jeep now here is my theory. remember how people were posting about how the Ram 1500 diesel was coming back but instead of the "EcoDiesel" it just says Diesel what if this is it the R2.8 cummins diesel instead of the the 3.0 ecodiesel this sounds very interesting that if my theory is correct we ill have the Cummins in the Half-ton game. now i know the article doesnt say anything about going in the 1500 and it doesnt really give any facts but think about it, GM has its tiny duramax and ford is coming out with a 3.3 liter diesel for the 150 what if this is Ram's hidden ace card to renew itself and bounce back after the whole EPA fiasco (F**k those guys by the way). but if now we know that Cummins makes smaller engines and im just wishfully thinking. what do you guys think????

It's 161HP a 267 ft lbs of torque, not enough for a full sized RAM, for a Jeep Wrangler it would work great.
I think Cummins has a 6 cylinder RePower in the works, if that is around the 260-270HP and 450-475 ft lbs torque, that will power a full sized nicely and still get good fuel economy.

I saw this on Extreme Off Road on the Powerblock a few months ago. I would love to put one in a 90's extended cab 4x4 Toyota or a Jeep Wrangler. I believe the whole kit was advertised for around 4K?

What's funny is the EPA says eco diesel is bad ect
But my eco diesel ram was getting a conservative 26-27 mpg at 75-80 mph here in Houston traffic.
