Morning everyone,

New member with 1st post/question.

Almost "pulled the trigger" on a 2016 Colorado Z71 Tuesday, but just couldn't do it. Just did not have the "feel" that I wanted and it felt cramped for room when driving, although the drive/steering/smoothness etc was ok. The power was ok but something was not right. Got their price down to $29895 but no lower.

Decided I still would like to have a RAM. The local dealer here (University) is very pushy on sales (hardly any discounts) and their service dept wants to fix everything on my Jeep that they point out without much question. The dealer in the next town (Loeher) does not want to budge on prices but service may be ok. I really hate to play the games the dealers do on negotiating. Rather take a mugging than deal with a salesman.

The question I have is if I purchase a new truck from a dealer in Atlanta will the local RAM dealers do warranty work or do I have to take it back to the dealer that sold the truck. I hate driving in Atlanta but don't want to be pushed to the back of the line locally.

I am looking at a Laramie 2WD Crew Cab and found serveral in Atlanta advertised at 10 to 12 dollars off msrp. I know Idaho has Dillon, but that is a long drive back and forth for service. Just kiddin'.

Thanks for your thoughts.

You can buy your Ram at any Ram dealer of your choice and then take it to which ever Ram dealer you want for warranty work. I bout my Ram in Austin,TX last year and I live in New Mexico.. I take my truck for warranty work to a Ram dealer in Amarillo, TX.

Have you looked at Lake Keowee Ram in SC? It's about 2 hrs from ATL. They are advertising some serious sales here lately. Just make sure you verify everything in person vs over the phone so they don't promise everything over the moon.

FCA provides the warranty, not the dealer. So you are free to take it to any FCA dealer you want to for warranty, service and repairs.

Absolutely true, however, you can't blame a dealer for prioritizing a service customer who bought the truck from them.
How much more money are we talking? A couple hundred bucks? Buy it from your servicing dealer. Couple thousand? Well that's another story.

I doubt that happens. Maybe in a very small dealership where they know people. In the dealership where I bought my truck the sales computer system and the service computer system are two different systems and they don't talk to each other - this is from the service manager.

They might try harder to work in a regular customer.

Like pointed out, any dealer. I bought mine and have it serviced by another.
Always go to sale dealer, treat them well, they reciprocate.

On price, start at $12k off sticker, but hold no less than $10K off if its a 2016 , as they are running end of year sales already.

Does happen, every vehicle that comes in, a dealer is required to run a VIP, tells you warranty information, open recalls, extended warranty coverage, service contract information, and where the vehicle was purchased. I'm not going treat a customer poorly, but if two customers come in at the same time. I will work on the purchasing customer first, only fair in my opinion.
There is always the exception, I try and put myself in the customers shoes, people traveling through on vacation etc.

To the OP. get a quote in writing from the cheapest dealer. Out the door, total price.(If they only want to talk payments, run, don't walk LOL) Bring it to where you would like to get your truck serviced. There is no reason they shouldn't be able to match or come very close to the price.

If you are trading something in, that's where it gets harder.

Don't even consider any kind of aftermarket warranty, complete ripoff.
On the other hand, if you plan on keeping the vehicle a long time. The Lifetime maxcare warranty through FCA is worth considering. There is allot of markup in the contracts. You should pay no more than about $2900 on a Ram. Excellent coverage. Assuming you are buying a gas, Diesel is another story

Check out Akins in Winder just east of Atlanta. Got a Big Horn at about 32% off sticker (before tax, tag, etc..)

Thanks Andrea for the link! Brings up a whole bunch of dealers around here.:)

ssilence - that would be fantastic to get 30+% off. I will look them up and see what they have in stock. If I understand correctly a $48000 msrp - 12,000 = $36000 is an ok deal (25%) but should be closer to $33600 (30%) plus tag, ad valorem tax (GA). What to do about the $300 to $600 documentation fee they seem to want to add? What the heck is this for?

You should talk to Brock at Akins Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Winder, GA. Tell him the guy from Hawaii sent you. I got such an amazing deal from them I bought my 2016 RAM Sport from them and drove it 2400 miles and put it on a boat to Hawaii. They won't disappoint.
