Had the dealership do an oil change today. After it is over I find out they use some additive. Vps I think it said. The guy says it is Valvoline. The owners manual says not to add oil additives and the dealership does.

They did a battery test and did not put the red plastic cover over the positive post. The negative side does not have a plastic cover and he said it never has one. I have a 2014 Ram with a 5.7 hemi, can you check to see if your negative post on the battery has a cover over it?

You live in MA, as do I. 99.9% of the dealerships suck out here - actually they suck everywhere. Which one did you go to so I make note to NEVER go there?

First Chrysler, I noticed before with a different brand vehicle that dealerships add oil additives. I am sure it is factory approved but it does go against what is in the owners manual.

I had been doing my own oil change and should have kept doing it. I contacted Chrysler care or whatever you want to call it and they can't even verify it is an approved additive. I told them I wanted an answer directly from Chrysler concerning this and she told me the only thing they could do is contact the dealer. Mickey mouse outfit.

I contacted Valvoline and they said it is not needed. I am sure the truck won't break down because of it and I am not going to lose any sleep over it but I was just curious. Must be something to make money on for the dealership.

Always buy oil at Walmart, 5-20 Shell/Pennsoil platinum and have the Ram dealer do the oil change for Penastar 3.6. Use Ram oil filter cartridge.

More than three times at the different Ram dealers ,the dealer over filled the engine about 1/2 quart.
Dealer said the engine capacity is 6 quarts ,so six quarts is used.
Had to explain that usually only ,5-1/2 quarts actually drains from the engine.
