Not sure. I think it was with my utility trailer, but I never jack knifed it as far as I know, and I think I would notice that. Possibly when I made a tight u-turn but I wouldn't think the trailer would come all the way around when u-turning.

Even still, I don't think your trailer could reach that point even on a u-turn. If you're like me, I worry about everyone else's around me in parking lots and such. Couldn't been someone stupid just whacked your bed or something. :flipthebird:

Glad it's something fixable at least and you're able to get it done.

fixing the dent and repaint. just got the call, its gonna be $1200. Fortunately I have a great relationship with this body shop as I've had a lot of custom work done there, including 2 complete repaints.

Sounds lame but what about a shopping cart? We have nasty winds here and I had a friend a few years back get a dent very similar to that in the rear quarter panel all because of a shopping quarter bent on vengeance against humanity. He knows it was the wind cause he actually got to watch it happen as he was walking to his truck. Talk about torture.

Lol I had a similar incident in a wal mart parking lot 2 weeks after purchasing my truck. I was walking away when I turned around to stop and admire my girl (just washed and waxed, looking great) I saw the shipping cart heading straight for the drivers side door and believe me when I say I don't think I've ever ran that fast before. Now I park at the back of the lot away from people and away from carts.

yeah, I had that happen to me and my old 300ZX Twin Turbo back in the day. Saw it rolling but couldn't catch it.

It looks like it could be the trailer. The deep part appears to be right around the same height as the angle steel on the trailer behind the truck in this picture so that piece could dent that area without hitting the bumper or anything else.

ill make you feel better. Bought my 2010 in the afternoon, drove it home. Decided to go for a little drive the same night, set the stereo stations etc and grab some food. Backing out of my driveway i back right into my neighbors work van. After not having a truck for 3 years i guess i wasnt use to the length and smacked it pretty good. $1200 and a new bumper and brackets later i was whole again. Only good news is it didnt leave a scratch on the van. those heavy duty rubber bumpers definitely do their job.

I'm betting it was a shopping cart or something. You would have known you did that with a trailer doing a U-turn. And that would have been way to to steep of a turn for a bumper pull trailer anyways. I have seen wind do some damage with shopping carts before.

Got it back, good as new! Big shout out to Autoglo in Tucker GA! If you need any paint work in the Atlanta area, Ted is the man to see!

We have decided it must have been hit in a parking lot. The den't was too big to not have been felt if I did it with the trailer, and there is no paint transfer anywhere on the trailer either.

Ahhh, the joys of buying a used truck... someone else already put the first dent in it. My last new truck was my previous 2010 Tundra. The weekend we bought it we had 2 HUGE snowstorms back to back. Ended up with 3 feet of snow, which slightly melted and refroze. Turning out of my driveway 2 days after I bought it, I scraped the rear drivers door against the ice and scraped and dented the door. Never fixed it. Then the next summer I was hauling a trailer that had a faulty coupler. Hit a bump, trailer came off the ball and slammed into my bumper. Never fixed that either.

The new/used Ram had a poorly fixed dent in the tailgate and a couple little dents in the rear bumper and a poorly fixed rock chip on the hood. Its nice getting those out of the way, so I don't have to worry about it. Its a truck, I expect them to have some dents and dings...
