2015 Ram, Big Horn. I only have one FOB (with remote start) and one normal key. Wife asked for her own FOB so I called my dealer....$165 for the FOB and $99 to program it? Really? What are my options here? I was prepared for maybe $100 total, maybe $120 because things just seem to be more expensive here....but edging up on $300 including tax here (sales tax here is 10.1%) seems nuts to me.

I've heard of some fobs going upwards of $500. I don't think you have many options, even if you bought a blank (I think you can get them off ebay) you'd still need to get it programmed which at that point they may turn around and up the programming costs.

Take a look, these are non programmed non cut so you'd still need cut and programming from a dealer but these are for the 2015

Well, they want $250 on that site....so I guess when my dealer is offering is inline with what's normal.....it was $250 and included programming. Simple solution is my wife doesn't get to drive my truck. [emoji3]

It's funny that the fob for the push button model is significantly cheaper. I'm sure you can look around on ebay and find something cheaper but hey if its dealer done it'll be warrantied probably and you don't have to deal with them trying to pull one over on programming it.

Find a local locksmith that has them and you will save a lot of cash. My dealer wanted $250 for the fob and another $70 to program it. I paid $100 from the locksmith for the fob, programming, and to cut the door key.

Some used car dealers can also sell you a FOB at a reduced price. Dealers typically only want to program FOBs they sell because they don't want to deal with inconsistent quality.

Agree, buy elsewhere on the net and then have a locksmith program it. I have the same issue, 1 fob. Just got lucky and got a new one off CL for 10 bucks. Haven't had it programmed yet, but figure a locksmith will be $50 to $100.

I bought a 3rd fob for my 17 a couple months ago from carandtruckremotes.com for $90 and the dealer programmed it and cut the key for another $90. The fob is the exact one thag came with the truck.

IMHO any FOB w/ programming from the dealer that costs under $400 is shockingly low. I hear of people paying $500+ for basic key FOBs.

It's at this time you should consider getting an OEM remote start kit. I believe it comes with two FOBs and I think the dealers install/pairing price is lower.

That is how it goes if you want OEM. They aren't cheap.

Yeah its pretty ridiculous! Some of the not to old ones you can just do yourself! I did it for the wifes 09 Buick Enclave! I looked awhile back for my truck though and I found them for around $65 on Ebay! Dealer is where you get screwed
