I'm at a cross roads. Should I?

Keep my 2014 1500 Sport CC 4X4 and buy the Lifetime Maxcare

or

Buy a 2017-18 Power Wagon and hope they offer the Lifetime come the end of the bumper to bumper or when/if I decide it's my forever truck?

I'm really happy with my 2014 but am starting to feel a little itch for a PW. I'm also likely to retire in 3-4 years and don't want a payment after so if I'm going to upgrade I need to do it soon. Either way this or the next will likely be my "Forever Truck".

I look forward to your thoughts and advice!

a Forever truck should be the one you WANT to drive not the one you have to drive. If you like your current truck and there's already a truck you'd rather have, then that should be your forever truck. Having said that, there's always the next new thing you'll want. but if you're FOR SURE making this the last one you buy, then start fresh. power wagon!

Has there been any rumblings of the lifetime warranty going away? I remember when they offered it in 2009-10ish but then just recently heard about it again here. I like the idea of having it on this or the next truck but would be disappointed if they pulled the plug and I missed out on a PW.

I tend to agree with this, however I too am about the same distance to retiring, although I plan to wear out a new one, and then perhaps a few used ones......

The only thing about a 3/4 ton is the extra expense for nearly everything on it. Tires, brakes, suspension. I just don't need a 3/4, but the PW is mighty cool.

Then again, I'm probably too old for cool.......

I suppose I should have clarified my retirement. I'll be retiring from the Army in 3-4 years. I'll be just under 40 but still plan to have this truck for 15-20 years. Will likely be a family truck after its completed its DD duty as well.

Honestly I have two itches. Either a PW or lifting my 1500. My thinking is the PW would scratch both. Damn, I'm talking myself into this...

At age 40 you'll need something that will give you 500k + for it to be a forever truck. In that case, you better look at a Cummins.

I agree... a lifted 1500, or a PW sound more like mid life crisis rigs, not forever rigs..

oh, no! midlife crisis is NOT a bad thing. I had been waiting years for mine to start and now I'm finally enjoying mine thoroughly. In a few more years, I plan to move onto my dirty old man phase.

Keep the 14 unless you truly need a Power wagon.

I agree. I'm nearly 42 and the 17 2500 i just bought will not be my forever rig if i can help it. I'd like to have it 10yrs, then get another. Have that 10 yrs, then right when I'm in my early 60s, retire and buy my forever rig, which will likely be a 3500 srw with a Cummins so my wife and i can buy a 5th wheel and snowbird in Florida over the winter months.

Lord willing of course. Lots of things can happen over the next 20yrs. Honestly, were both too young to think about forever rigs at this stage of the game. Just my. 02. Thanks for your service

Even though I'm only 28. I have a 14 sport. I go through trucks and cars pretty regularly. I really like my sport so I am going to try to keep this truck. If you want it to be a forever truck, do things to it so you enjoy it.

I'm nearing retirement as well. My plans are to have a designated truck to pull my camping trailer and a round about Tacoma for most of my transportation needs.

Whichever you decide, neither will be a forever truck. Your still pretty young dude.

I'd keep the 14' unless you just really want the powerwagon now.

if you torn between keeping and lifting your 1500 or buying a power wagon, your much better off with the power wagon. chances are, neither will be forever trucks so i wouldnt worry about that.

Have you driven a PW enough to know it will serve you comfortably as a daily driver.

Personally, I'll bet after you buy the power wagon you'll look at a Rebel two years down the road and lust for it.

One of the things about getting old and living on a fixed income is one becomes a better judge of what is the appropriate answer to the question not just what turns your crank at the moment.

You're still a kid and it shows.

My dad bought his "forever truck" 2 trucks ago and wouldn't be surprised to see one more before he actually has the final "forever truck". Things change, attitudes change, don't pigeon hole yourself. Buy what you can afford.
