Front Differential Crack

I rolled under my new 2017 truck with 5000 mi to perform the first oil change and was flabbergasted to see what appears to be a casting crack on the front transfer case. Anyone seen this before? No fluid leak. I just am beyond belief this transfer case was installed.

Either way, get it documented NOW, so they can't accuse you of doing something that caused it later if it becomes problematic.

Not familiar with a casting mark leaving a 1/16" gap narrowing to about 1/32". Also on the support bracket and back it spiders off into narrow fractures.

I think it is a casting mark too. It would not impress me either and I would point it out the next time you are at the dealer in case it does start leaking. Ultimately a dealer won't do anything about that until it does leak if it ever does.

That's right, jump to conclusions and make demands before showing it to the dealer. And also he should storm into the service department yelling insults at the service manager prior to saying why he is concerned. :waytogo:
