Got Rear Ended

Hi Guys,

Got rear ended last Thursday.

Here are pictures. Truck is getting estimated tomorrow?

I just hate this because it will never be the same.

The bed did hit the cab and I was also pushed into another car.

What should I look out for.

Hi Guys,

I was hoping the truck was totaled so I could get a Eco Diesel or Cummins.

Love my Hemi but miss my previous diesels!

Was the guy behind you 'distracted' driving? I've learned from towing to pump my breaks. The flashing lights might get the attention of the driver behind me.

I'm also installing a LED bar under the tail gate.

Only think I could think to look at is frame damage.

Happend to a friend of mine too. 4 car pile up , Guy was not even paying attention. 2 cars totaled truck got pushed in car in front of her .

$14,000 Damage when all said and done. Not including other vehicles.

Minnesota must be cursed... two of us from MN with silver colored rams in an accident in a week....

however your looks worse than mine. since there really is no frame where you were hit, yours may be stuff like a bumper, bed, light......

good luck. i doubt it will be totaled as it needs to be something like 60-70% of the value of the truck in damage before that happens.

on a side note what shop are you taking it to? i have had really good luck with Lemettrys in burnsville

Make sure you ask for diminished value of your truck. They wont tell you about it, and you will have to jump through hoops. My 2 month old 2016 sport was back into in a parking lot. luckily i was there. The damage was $5500. and after the Diminished value claim i got $2000 in my pocket because of the accident.

THINGS TO LOOK OUT FOR ( just my opinion)

1) your insurance company making the body shop go the "cheap" route to save them money.
2) the body shop cutting corners using refurbished parts and telling the insurance and you that it is OEM parts. (happens all the time). Refurbished is allowed.. when its allowed.

3) over-spray

4) ask the body shop if you can fluid film your frame while the box is off the truck.

Make sure the body shop uses OEM parts.

Check for frame, axle, suspension damage.

Check for differential and brake line fluid leaks.

Check ABS sensors.

Check brake rotors and pads.

Thanks guys, Im doing fine and this is also one of the reasons I drive a truck. The truck is at a good body shop Lehman's Garage in Chaska. They said it atleast 10k worth of damage but wont know until they take the bed off tomorrow. They will also check for frame damage. Now the fun of dealing with insurance crap. I had my truck ziebart rust proofed and stuff and trying to get them to cover that getting redone as well.

hopefully it can go as smooth as mine just did. the person that hit me was not licensed and was in someone elses car. within a week their insurance (person that owned the car) was asking me what shop to mail the check to. since i was going to get the truck back sooner than they could get the check to the body shop i just paid my deductible whch they will give me back and will just pay my insurance company.

believe it or not sometimes this is the easiest way to do it.

Hi Guys,

Here is the latest!

Just got the first estimate from the shop that is doing the work and the total so far is $9800. Im thinking it will be closer to $11000 when its all said and done.

That type of hit is what got me into my Ram. This was my old truck after being rear ended. It sure makes you appreciate the length of the truck bed as an extra buffer zone of protection. Hope yours gets fixed to your liking.
