It was a girl (early teens), pretty sure she was texting, but you should've seen the van that hit me, the black stallion came out pretty good as I drove away.
The second thing I did after checking my passengers was see if she was OK, but she never even came over, did everything through the PO. The insurance was a nightmare, go figure I get rear ended by someone carrying Fred Loya.

Glad to see everyone is walking away from these. I had one where a kid was texting or something. Didn't even hit the brakes and I was at a dead stop. Needless to say, I only had bumper and some fender damage and he was likely grounded for a while after totaling his mommy's car.

Way ahead of you. Already looking into it.

**Update**
It was just confirmed that the other guy didn't have insurance so I'm on my own (me and my insurance) to cover this. I suspected as much with the way things were being handled right after it happened but I couldn't say for certain. Again, I'm being careful with my words here since I don't know what direction I'm going with this but after today, I don't have a ton of options. This just keeps getting better.

Damn, that sucks. I hope he at least gets a stiff fine from the state for not having insurance. Look at the good side.......you probably can pick your body shop. Glad you are ok, although you are probably a bit sore by now. Kind of surprised he doesn't have insurance on his vehicle, it being fairly new.........

Wait, so down there your plates don't include any insurance at all? Here when I pay my $1000 a year for plates, that gives me a $700 deductible for damage and $200,000 liability. I also pay an extra $300 a year for $2.2mil liability, $700 damage deductible, $0 no fault deductible, covers rentals and glass coverage.

So backwards. You guys get hosed :/

Glad you're OK though!

Yeah, I was sore the next day and made a trip to the ER to get checked out. Sprained wrist and a mild concussion but other than that, I'll live. His truck was an '08 so yeah, he should have had some coverage. As soon as know more, I will post up.

A reputable body shop will fix that and no one would ever be able to find that it had been worked on or know the difference. As far as that goes there is a department in every assembly plant that fixes and repairs damaged vehicles before they ever ship them out. I know several people that work there, if the door doesn't close right they just put a 2 x 4 in it and flex it until it does. If the back window gets installed in a pick up with the seatbelts hanging out, they take the window out stuff the seatbelt inside if they're not damaged put the window back in etc

Only minor repairs are done in an assembly plant, spent 23 years there before retirement. Not sure about the US but here in Canada an accident repaired by insurance is registered and can't be hidden from the public. It's called CARPROOF, also shows liens etc.

I guess things are different in Canada. I am at the home of the guy that bends the doors with a 2 x 4 to make them close tight right now and that's how they do it. Obviously if they chip the paint or damage something that is visible than they can it and replace it. A lot of this went on when they first started running the aluminum F150s because you have to overbend the aluminum or it will go back to where it was, so lots of tweaking needed to be done.

Yes, in Texas (I am assuming that is where the op is from) You do not need insurance is some counties. It depends where you live really. If you see someone driving around with a paper plate, they dont have insurance unless it is a brand new vehicle. Texas mails your plates to the dealer then they install them.

Driving Without insurance is a ******* move for anyone to do, so me people dont realize what can happen. If I were the op i would have a lawyer sue the girls parents for anything they have. I think they can garnish their wages, put a lein on thete house ect or take away anyyhing in value that can be sold. But maybe thats just me, i also dont take too kindly to having my **** wrecked because some ***** isn't paying attention while they are on a ******** phone either.

End rant/vent/opinion

Its funny the states handle tags differently.
In Kansas the dealer gives you a temp tag and you go get your tag from the DMV when the temp tag is up, you also show proof of insurance when they give you the temp tag.

dont second quess the carproof its easy to hide the repairs if you know the right people, my 2013 was hit by a transport while parked and i had it fixed thru insurance and mentioned the carproof thing to the bodyshop and he told me outright not to worry about it. When i traded the 2013 in 2 years ago the dealer pulled a carfax and it was not there which really surprised me considering i had $6000 in damage to the front of my truck
