How often do you use the parking brake?

I would think to keep pressure off the trans when parking on an incline you would have to apply the brakes and hold them, then apply the parking brake without releasing the brake pedal, then release the brake pedal and put the truck in park. Is this what everyone does? Otherwise wouldn't the incline already create pressure on the trans when you put it in park, take your foot off the brake then apply the parking brake? I only use it in a manual on a hill(saw one roll in gear before) or when in neutral, or auto or manual on a boat ramp but I usually don't have to get out.

Always, and I put the trans in neutral to let the truck rest on the parking brake before I put it in park if I'm on an incline.

I only use it when I need to leave it in reverse to use the light bar that is my solo reverse light for when I am hooking to a trailer.... definently won't use in the winter again when I first got truck they got frozen in place somehow

I only use mine on inclines as well, but also when hooking up to a trailer. I'll back up to where I need to be and then hit the brake so I don't get that little roll that throws my positioning off.

What's a parking brake?

Only use mine on the rare occasions that I park on inclines on all my vehicles. Otherwise I forget it's there. I understand the reasons to use it and won't make an argument for or against using it. I just don't use mine most of the time.

Every time before putting the granny in park. An old stick shift habit to keep any stress out of the tranny.

Foot on the regular brake
Shift to neutral
Set parking brake
Foot off the regular brake
The truck rolls slightly and is stopped by the parking brake
Foot on regular brake and shift to park
Engine off

I always use mine. Don't want the truck rocking back and forth against the tranny parking prawl.
