The 3.6 is so undersized for this truck that it looks like someone stuck a Geo Metro engine in it. LOL! :roflsquared:

Anyone who has one knows that it's size belies it's power. Not a Hemi by any means but over 300 horses will move the truck along just fine. :favorites13:

I just thought it was funny to have a relatively small engine under a huge hood and engine bay with a big gap in front of it.
 :word:

(excuse the dust. Dust storms and rain storms in Phoenix lately.)

I like the 3.6 Pentastar. We had it in our 300S which we traded in on a Journey with the 3.6.

I tell everyone that I can stand up in the engine bay touching the ground where that gap is on my truck.

My 2013 V6/8spd 4x4 CC scoots along fine for me, but not like the 2013 HEMI/6spd I had previously.

Even having more displacement, the 3.6L Pentastar fills up less of the engine compartment than the 3.0L EcoDiesel. I'm sure the turbo, HPFP, and intercooler piping helps fill in the gaps.

When I bought my Ram with the 3.6, the sales guy opened the hood and I asked where was the other half of the engine...he just laughed and told me I should test drive it.

Of all the trucks I've owned the Pentastar + 8spd is at this point.... my favorite powertrain. We will see how it holds up because I'm going to drive this thing into the ground.

We have the 3.6 in the wife's 2015 Grand Cherokee and for a suv its pretty stout. The 8 speed trans in it is what got to buy a Ram again

I just finished towing a 6x10 loaded trailer 3300 kms and never skipped a beat. My trucked replaced a 2013 Grand Caravan with the 3.6, 6 spd. The Ram Pentastar 8spd had ample power and used less gas towing then the Caravan on the same trip 2 years ago. Truck was a year old in April and now has 43000 kms, no issues so far. I drove my friends Hemi last week and I have to admit it really is a beast for power and torque. Personally the 3.6 works great for my needs at this time, very happy.

I rented a Jeep with the 3.6/8spd and it moved out fairly good. I was surprised.
When my 1500 was getting LineX I had another 1500 for a rental; SLT with the 3.6. Although it was decent in that big truck, the mpg was horrible and you could tell how undersized in power it was for a full size truck.

That doesn't sound like the 3.6. MPG IS GREAT on my crew cab (20-25 easy), and power is plenty as long as you stay at the right RPM range. The truck is plenty quick unloaded.

I tow with mine 3 days a week minimum all summer 3-3.5k loaded. 35k on it now and 10k of that is towing, it isn't a dog at all and my mileage is around 17 towing. No problem passing either.

How it looks under the hood isn't important, to me at least.
