So as yall know i own a 2013 ram 1500, i owe 9.5k on it. I had some trans work done it and my rental was a chrysler 200, which is essentially a Dart. My Vw has 230k miles on it and things are starting to go wrong, but i love the car. While i was waiting i was talking with the sales person about buying a Dart, just talking not shopping. They threw me an offer than is hard to refuse.... Here it is...

They would finance me the Dart at $456 OTD (taxes, licences, ext) With Life time warranty, AND (here it is) "pay off my truck" essentially refinancing my truck into the Dart payment. I would own my truck, and Dart with a life time warranty all for 456 0% APR for 84m!

I pay 338 but i round up to 350 for my truck per month...

That apr sounds kinda high imo. What trim level is the dart. Almost sounds like you would be paying sticker price on the dart

The only down side, instead of paying my truck off in a year and a half, i would have a car payment for at most another 7 years...

38304 is the total for 84 months. You owe 9.5 k on your truck and the Dart out the door is 18k so when I add up the two I get 27.5k. So 38304-27500 equals 10804. Someone is making a decent dollar and I will assume it's not you. Good luck with this deal.

That's the math I came up with. Other than subtracting $2-3k for a lifetime warranty off the 10k difference, something isn't adding up.

I dont understand the 38304-27500, what does that 10804 do for me?

If you multiply 456x84 you get 38304. So that is what you would be financing for 84 months. If you Add 9.5k (what you owe on your truck) plus 18k (price of the dart) you get 27500. So somewhere there is a 10k discrepancy.

That's the negative equity you're getting stuck with on that "deal". No dealership is gonna lose money EVER. To make a sale. It's all in how they word it to you that makes it seem like such a killer deal lol. At 22 you should t be so quick to jump into debt. Save that 456 bucks a month a just DD your Ram if the VW ends up falling apart. If you take that same money over the course of the 84 months you would be paying on the depreciating asset(i.e. The dart ) and invest it you'll be way happier at the end of the 84 months lol . Just my .02. Good luck.

That's 456.00 a month x 84 months = 38,304.00 - 9,500.00 = 28,804.00 for a 17k-18k car doesn't sound like a good deal.....

18,000.00 (dart) + 9,500.00 (truck) = 27,500.00 + 1,304.00 (dealer profit)

They are selling you dart for full price + rolling your truck into the loan.

The math above is solid. It's a bad deal... They may be telling you it's a 0% interest loan, but what they've done is pre-built an interest into that $456 payment. You'd be way upside down on this deal. Pass it up.

Gotcha, wasnt sure what he was adding up, but gotcha. I never sat and looked at all the numbers cause i had to go to work and was just waiting for my truck to come up, thats what they were offering. Of course i would before signing papers, see what is actually going on.

But that is incorporating Sales tax, which is 10% here, registrating fee, Life Time warranty, ext.
id be paying nearly 2000 in sales tax, 3500 for LTW, and 1-2000 for licencing... so thats where the 27500 come from, does seem little high still but cant forget all of that

you're 22, and are getting 0%.. they are banking on this. You should be paying 15k tops on that dart, even if they give you the 9.5K for the truck, which is strange, why they aren't making you trade it in, but either way, if they give you 9.5k plus the 15k you SHOULD be paying for the dart, the number comes to 24500. If you add sales tax into that 10% you said, you should be at : 269050~

you should be paying 320/mo for 84 months. Which 84 months is long as ****, but that's your business. If you're paying more than 320-335 USD per month, you're getting a very, very, very bad deal. Please call them and tell them that.

you can get a lifetime warranty much cheaper than that too... hell, I paid 2500 on my 2016 ram for a life time warranty, check out a few places for warranty, or, tell them you don't want it. If they insist on giving you this deal, demand a ralleye edition.
