Hi all,

Very new to RAM, have only 700 miles on my 2016 crew cab 4X4 5.7.
I have noticed, since new, when driving down a road anywhere from 25mph to 40 mph or so that the drivetrain makes a very low frequency humming noise. It almost sounds like the engine is lugging if you know what i mean.
I don't know how else to explain it and I know this isn't a very good description.
My guess is this is normal? The programming is designed for good mpg gets the truck into the highest gear possible?
Flying down the interstate at higher speeds I notice no such noise.

I think this noise is more apparent to me because of my tinnitus. A droning noise in certain frequencies really are noticable to me while high pitched noises are invisible to me.

Love the truck though, really never thought I would own a RAM but test drove it and that was all it took. The freaking Hemi, my god, how did I live without this?

Hi Gom,

Congrats on your new vehicle! If you decide to visit your local dealership for diagnosis I'd be happy to follow up with them for you. Just let me know!

Yes, I should have mentioned that. It is only when it is in that mode and at lower speeds. At highway speeds I don't notice it all when MDS kicks in and cruising. I really don't think there is anything wrong I guess, just thought I would ask. MDS is the little "eco" tindication that lights on the multifuction display, right?

Typical of MDS from what Ive read on this board and feel in my own truck.

Though with my brake pedal position sensor currently removed MDS isnt working which I'm loving right now. If it werent for all the warning lights in the cluster I would leave it this way.

Everytime it goes eco mode it sounds like this. To get rid of eco mode you can put in drive, then toggle into 1st, then toggle up to 8th. It will defeat the eco mode...have to do everytime you start for this.

"ECO" mode includes more than just MDS. IT actually means the truck is operating in it's most economical condition. This also includes the grill shutters closing and the PWM (pulse width modulated) motors (fuel pump, aux engine cooling fan, etc.) running on low demand. Chances are the alternator is switching into low/no charge as well.
