Ive seen that happen on a brand new ram off the lot... The window moves by a cable system, and the customer had to have the entire cable and motor replaced...

To get it closed, it would be easier with two people.. Fully open the window so the cable is where it should be, and then have one person close it, and pull the window closed..

It took us a TON of fidgeting to get it to close though..

Would I damage break anything?
I don't want them denying warranty work if something I did

This has happened a few times on my truck. With my truck, it would open fine but require several (20 or so) presses of the switch to close again. Each press would get the window to move a small amount until eventually it closed. I attempted to get the dealer to look at the problem while the truck was in for recall work, but alas on that day the window was working as designed.

This is EXACTLY right. Keep hitting the switch like he said ^^^^^^. Mine has done it twice both times when hot out. Got the good old dealer couldn't find anything wrong.

I drove around and in park hoping it would magically want to close unfortunately it didn't close. I tried manually closing it like suggested above it didn't work, I stopped cause it seemed that I was going to break the window.
I just finished putting water proof heavy duty tape from Home Depot to cover the window.

Unfortunately the dealer is close tomorrow so I'll have to wait till Monday.

I have extended warranty plan and my truck is still under warranty it's a 2015 only 4,500 miles will it be a problem to get a paid rental/loaner car if I take it to my local dealership which I did not buy from?

Mine gave me issues closing once this summer on one hot as hell day. Finally got it to close by pushing up on the switch while pressing it (best way I can describe it). I searched it a little then and found a few other people who had troubles with the switch on really hot days, the few other cases I read about makes it seem to be something with how the switch contacts when it's hot.

I wish my closed I tried the switch different ways and nothing I drove around, I then let the truck cool down, and turned it on/off and nothing.

Just my luck it's raining season here in California, the truck won't fit in my garage and service is closed tomorrow

Having same issue with my 2017 Ram 1500 Laramie. Taking it to dealer tomorrow morning. Still under warranty too. Hope they have a fix for this. From the answers I've been reading, it doesn't look hopeful.

Update: Dealer said the "Seat handle against it was the problem. They lubricated cables & moved seat handle". Today, 109 deg in truck. Opened window & it works fine, like always. IT WON'T CLOSE, like before. I took a video & sent it to dealer. Going to try switch to see if that works. I'll keep you posted.

My window has the same issue. When it's HOT outside, it doesn't close correctly. The open/close switch gets too hot to work. On my 2017 Laramie, it's on the overhead console.
Currently work with Dodge dealer about it. First visit they said the headrest release on the back seat was causing it to snag, but I knew that wasn't it. Had to make video to show Dealer what happens to window when it's too hot outside. Left it in the sun with all windows closed. Got into truck & it was 106 deg. Didn't work then. Getting the switch replaced next month. Part is in but getting into service to do the warranty work is 2.5 weeks. Hopefully that will fix it. If not, onto the next step. Past threads that I have read on here or seen YouTube videos about this issue state the switch itself is the problem. If the truck gets cooler, like driving around with ac on & windows closed has worked. Cooler nights, under 90 deg., has helped too. I can't believe the track expands that much to bind the window.

This happened to mine as well about 2 weeks ago when it was africa hot around here. I drove for about 30 minutes down the highway and then it cooled enough to close properly. Has been working fine ever since.

Following this... My 2014 has the same problem. Opens fine, but if it's a hot day it will only close maybe 1/4-1/2" at a time (if I'm lucky). Will be very interested to hear whether a new window switch fixes the problem.

Went to dealer on Thursday, 8/2. They did replaced the switch that I originally told them was the problem. I guess the video I made proved it to them. Left the truck in the hot southern FL sun on Fri & waited til afternoon to test the switch. When I entered the truck the temp was 116 deg. Window opened & closed without a problem. So far so good. Time will tell. Thanks for all the help & videos about this problem.

Update: 10/15/18 - still working fine after dealer replaced Switch. I originally told them that was the answer, but had to make a video to prove it.
