If we need to reach out, we can do that too! If you need anything, just PM your VIN and dealership.

Thank you so much.

UPDATE

- charging cable: dealer said they tried others and it works just fine. It my cable that has an issue. Which I find weird because it brand new and the third one I have tried.

- I had issues with the truck not starting: dealer cannot duplicate the issue so unsure.

- Key fob gets stuck in ignition: dealer cannot duplicate issue

- when key is turned makes same noise as rotary knob, I even have a video to show what happens: dealer cannot duplicate

As of right now the dealer opened up a STAR case. Waiting to hear back.

Same issue but with the USB in the dash passenger side. 2 trucks I have owned had this issue. My 2017 does it, different cables and different phones it will not charge after phone unplugged unless I unplug from dash.

Hi seaham358,

I've reached out about the charging/unplugging concern you and others have mentioned. I will let you guys know what I find out.

Since we're discussing 2017 models here. According to my sticker options. I should have the 32 gallon fuel tank. However, I ran it down to where the gas needle was below the red line, console said I only had 50 miles left, and the gas light was on also. But when I filled it, the gas pump said I pumped 26.2 gallons of gas. Which is the standard fuel tank for our trucks.

Is the other 6 gallons for reserve or something?

Another update.

The dealership is replacing the WIN module. This has been causing my key fob locking in the ignition and the actuator sound when turning the key.

I think they set up the fuel level guage to read empty like that to keep us from running them dry, which can harm the fuel pump.

Just to follow up, the brand is aware of Apple lightning cables acting as you've described, and so they are developing a way to work around this. It is specifically Apple-related right now, but I've let them know you and others have noticed it with different cables/phone brands.

I've never had an issue with my charge only USB port. Maybe it is a common defect, but certainly not normal.

That's all I heard yesterday... first thing getting into the truck it duplicated lol. Tech saw it and diagnosed the issue.

Another Update.

Have another appointment on Tuesday with the service department.

- USB only charging port still not working. Tried multiple cables, aftermarket and OEM.
- Truck has now an annoying rattle/ creak in the driver side dash and window area (I have video of this, not sure how to and if I can upload). This started after my first service last week.
- AC vent/ light control unit on driver side is lose in dash (not causing rattle)

Honestly Im bit annoyed at this point. The truck is 2.5 weeks old with only 500 miles on it. These things should not be happening especially for the price paid.

I will continue to update on Tuesday after my service appointment.

my 2015 does the same thing with the USB charge-only port in the console. I have to remove the plug from the outlet each time I restart the truck. It even continues charging when I shut the truck off, but as soon as I crank it again, charging stops until I remove the cable from the outlet and re-insert. It does not happen when plugged in to the media outlet.

Edit: and I am using an original Apple cable, so the cable is definitely not the issue. Not a huge deal for me, personally. Just unplug and replace the cable every time I start the truck.

Hi barbosa,

If you want to send a message with your VIN so we can document that you're experiencing this as well, we'd be happy to do so.

Another update.

So basically I keep finding issues with the truck. My dealership has been no help and extremely rude and disrespectful to my wife and myself.

At this point these are my current problems with the truck.
- ac vents loose in dash
- rattle/ creak near near window and dash
- Uconnect now resets air recycling button every time truck turns off
- USB charge only port still not working (I know it's a known issue)
- bed is misaligned to cab of truck by 1" to the right if looking from the rear
- bumper misaligned

In my honest opinion and I'm only speaking from current experiences that ram has major quality control issues.

I'm giving my dealer one more chance to make it right tomorrow at my 3rd service appointment. If nothing else can be done I'm not sure what else to do at this point.

I have a Ram case manager but that has gotten nowhere.

I appreciate everyone's feedback and any help.

Thank you

I'd consider taking it to another dealer with your list of issues and see if they have any better luck.

Bed and bumpers misaligned is why I give all vehicles a very close inspection, in daylight, before I purchase them. You never know, it could have been as simple as it was "bumped" coming off the train or semi when it was being delivered, or it could be a Friday truck.

The uConnect resetting some settings, such as air recycling, after shutdown is normal I believe.

I hope you get your issues resolved.

The dealer is telling the bed and bumper is fine. I'm taking it to another dealer for their input. You are correct about the Uconnect, corporate techs confirmed that and it's a built in safety feature.

I also figured the source of the creaking and rattleing, it's the windshield alignment clips used only to install the windshield. Dealer will not remove because of liability reasons.
