Getting back into a half ton after a long stretch of driving 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. I have decided on a Dodge. Been a long time.
Anyways, looking at a 2014 on up blackout express 4x4. Short box standard cab.
As I understand it, I have a choice of transmissions (6 or 8 speed), gears (3.21 and 3.92) and either a standard rear or an LSD ( I think they call it an anti slip).
Acquiring responsible fuel economy is NOT my first priority. I am seeking the highest factory installed straight-line performance possible. If I can get 15mpg on the highway...im happy.
I believe this combination would be 8 speed trans, 3.92 gears and LSD. Getting a two wheel drive would probably be quicker but living in the Midwest... I need it. Daily, year round driver that will tow a 6000# trailer from time to time
Correct?
Is it also true that if you get the 8 speed transmission you are stuck with the rotary dial shifter? I can live with it but prefer the old lever
