I picked up a new 2016 Ram 1500 Tradesman a few months back and I think its time to start making her mine. Where should I start? I hear leveling is bad on joints plus I will soon be picking up a RV so lift may be a bad option. Ideas would be awesome! Thanks!! :favorites13:

If you're going to pull a travel trailer consider getting Air Lift bags to support the weight. You can even have them hooked up with a wireless remote control for the cab. I had the 5000 model for my 2500. It made putting the weight distribution hitch on a breeze because once you attach it and the truck drops you can lift the truck higher than normal to chain the distribution bars then let it back down. Nice!

I'll go in a different direction -

Bushwacker fender flares
Black alloy wheels
Aggressive tread tires
Bull bar (in black of course)

All great suggestions! Maybe paint the grille and bumper the same color as the body.

Any new truck I've had I've alwasy upgraded the intake and exhaust as the first few mods. My 14 1500 hemi I installed a 18 inch mufflex (magnaflow) muffler and a s&b cai. Another modified do is to under coat the truck, I live in NW indiana so salt in the winter is an issue.

1. Airbags. Go with the airlift 5000, doesn't cost much more than the 1000, but will work a lot better.

2. Tint the windows

3. Dee zee tailgate assist

4. HID/LED headlights!

I bought my Tradesman for the simplicity of it all.

Didn't like how the truck really looked, but new I'd could change that in a heartbeat.

So, weeks after I got my truck, it looked like this! I haven't even made the first payment yet! haha

I painted the grill, and both bumpers to match the truck. I still remember my parts drying in the garage when my wife got home, she saw my new truck with no bumpers/grill... she was like What the?!??!? hahahaha

Except that isn't going to do much. Other than the exhaust tone. These trucks use a MAP sensor - so the computer just corrects for the extra air.

Kind of a waste of money - unless you've tuned the truck.

Alright, Bird Dog and XRS convinced me. Just ordered a Dee Zee tailgate assist with my Mopar plugs from amazom. It was only 24 bucks.

And oh yeah I forgot one of the best upgrades I ever did to another truck was getting yellow PIAA"S. Increases vision exponentially w/o offending oncoming traffic. As I get older, it was a huge benefit driving at night.

I started out with a tradesman with 17s also. Ask the dealer if they have any takeoff wheels. I talked to the dealer and got a set of free 20" wheels they had taken off of another truck and put slightly taller tires than the 17s on it.
You could also do something different like a roll bar.
Swap out the front bumper for one with the cutouts for fog lights. I just did this mod also and will be installing fog lights next month.

First mod I made on my 2014 Tradesman was to add power door locks. Never got around to adding power windows. I agree, the DeeZee tailgate assist is the best cheap mod you can add.
