My RAM is the biggest P.O.S. ive ever owned...YEP my belt/pulleys squeak...It also leaks oil/tranny fluid...When empty it rides like a roman chariot with concrete wheels...I'm forever chasing interior rattles...Blew the power steering hose @ around 1600mi, it instantly clogged the power booster and disabled ALL BRAKING AND STEERING ABILITY...Took the dealer 2 weeks to swap out that hose...****** gear ratios in the trans, especially first to second...Wrong gear for snowplowing...SNOW CHIEF PKG should automatically come with the 4.10...Worst OEM tires on a plow pkg setup h.d. truck...Ex G.M. guy here too...Ive owned 14 3500 chevys in my lifetime...8 were high dollar 3500 C.C. Duallys 4x4...This RAM is junk...BUT...Welcome to the club...:puke:

Geez- I'm pissed about 9 recalls on mine but glad I don't have your problems. If I did I would feel the same way as you do.

I to am an ex GM guy. Although i never had any major problems with them, if you spend enough time in a GM truck they definately show there small impurities to.

I wouldn't worry about your fan. Youve got a new truck with a warranty, let the dealer look after you. You manged to get 1 faulty part out of millions made so to speak.

The odds of it happening in another brand are likely just the same. Let em fix it and enjoy it, That's what warranty is for after all.

Ha did not say I wanted it... lol

I wanted a 2500 but that transmission and no quad cab option kept me away.

But I would have sold it along time ago, I know this because I had a brand new peice of **** GMC back in 95 that GMC would not make right. traded it for a Ford.

I have a 2013 ram 1500. My fan clutch also went out, only it happened after 60K miles

I traded a 17 Denali for my Ram. 8000 miles and nothing to report going wrong. I wouldn't trade back for anything.

I just bought my 3rd Ram in March of this year. (I've had some other vehicles in between) It's used and has high mileage. (Higher than I was initially comfortable with) However, I really needed a truck for a 2nd vehicle, the price was right, and when I looked it over and test drove it, I was sold. It rides and drives like new. It's a 2012 express and was well maintained by the previous owner. On initial start up in the colder weather I get a temporary belt squeal. I can understand frustration with a problem so early on with a new truck regardless of brand. They're expensive, even the used ones with high mileage. My odometer just hit 135,000 and it still runs like new. Plenty of power, smooth, quiet ride and no leaks or issues of any kind. Maybe it's a fluke thing and hopefully you won't have anymore issues with it after this.

It is what it is, I traded my 95 in with 28k on the clock and lost money but gained peice of mind.
you can be miserable in your current truck or go get one that makes you happy.
right or wrong that trucks not going to get better for you.

Some of my "well to do" unhappily married friends have a saying.........

"SOMETIMES IT'S JUST CHEAPER TO KEEP HER"

That's what I keep telling myself about this RAM p.o.s. truck...........

So i'll be honest i have been a chevy guy since i was a kid. I was in need of a new truck and decided to stop by the ram dealer since they were running their truck month. I fell in love with the looks of it and the price dropped down to where i wanted to be and next thing you know i became a ram guy. I really like this truck and assure you i am no troll but only 3 days and 200 miles in i developed alot of belt/pulley noise. I was hoping it was just new belts needing to break in and just kept driving it, now at 3 weeks and 500 miles on it got louder and more consistent so i drove over to the dealer. They told me its a bad fan clutch? At 500 miles actually 200 when it started it seems crazy for parts to be failing. So as i sit here with my jeep patriot rental (skirt not included) i am not feeling too confident after my brand switch. Anyone have a similar experience? I actually hope the answer is no. Lol.

Hi Pdowney84,

Congrats on your new truck but I'm sorry to hear about your concerns! Please keep me updated on your service appointment, I'd be happy to offer further assistance if needed. Just PM our page with your VIN and let me know.

If it makes you feel better the company i work for only buys chevy and ford trucks. Last year we bought 8 (yes 8) brand new 2016 chevy 2500 4x4 at once. Two had to go in under 2000 miles with blown transmissions that were total replacements. I no longer have my 14 but id still take any new ram over a chevy any day.

Mopar or no car!

My advice? Don't worry about it. Stuff happens to any vehicle regardless of brand. Let them fix it under warranty and then move on enjoying your new truck. I bought my Ram new last August, just rolled past 10k miles today and have not had any issues.

So you think Chubby has good initial quality?
Only if they pay some reviewer to say so!

All set

So I haven't gotten back to this thread only because I got my truck back and it's been riding perfect since. Overall I am happy with the ram so far, i had the one issue and it was taken care of immediately since then I've grown to really like it. It's a great looking truck with one he'll of a motor. Sounds good with even the stock exhaust. A couple minor things I still don't get with it though. In the GM trucks you get the G80 locking rear differential with the tow package, why doesn't ram throw in their limited slip? I know you can order it but I assumed wrongly. Def not a deal breaker but looking back I wish I had known as I live in Massachusetts and get some good snow storms. My Chevy with the locker was good in the snow even in 2wd if I had some weight in it. But overall the ram is great, i am now confident in it and cant keep the smile off my face when I hit the throttle.

Ram puts together their packages different then Chevy for sure.
I spent months looking at them and everything I wanted would be in a model with other stuff I did not want so I ended up giving up a few things I wanted so I would not get the stuff I did not want.
I got close to the truck I wanted and the only thing I will add will be LSD and 3:92 gears , well maybe tow mirrors after I pull my camper I will see if I need them.

IMO every truck should have the LSD in them.

I live in MA too. Traded my 09 Silverado Z71 for a 14 Longhorn CC - both have their manufacturer's version of the 4 auto transfer case. In the winter, I generally drive with it in 4 auto. However, I've noticed that the RAM is stable in 2wd, where the Silverado was not in certain winter conditions. Overall, much happier with the RAM. I don't miss the Chevy at all.

I, too, am a new owner and will report that I have nothing to report. Just 3500 miles but all is well.

Yeah i hear you. Just looking for reassurance after changing brands. Lol. Thanks.

Granted it was used and lifted so it probably wasn't GM's fault, but I owned my Silverado for 1 year and spent like 2500 in repairs. Sold it to some other poor fellow and bought my Ram 4 months ago. All brand have issues so it didn't make me hate GM but did slightly sour me

I am not brand loyal at all. My last truck was an F150 and this is my first Ram 1500. Very happy with it so far.

Every brand has it's bugs.

50k miles later and I have zero issues with mine.

I'm sure you'll be fine.

I'm also at 50k miles on my Ecodiesel with 0 issues. This guys truck must be a lemon..
