When I had my 2010 1500 Hemi, I just used a rag to clean up the oil.
That channel idea looks better in concept than in application. Looks like it would get in the way during filter removal and would need wiped off after use.

now that I see the pic, my 03 4.7L had that funnel/ramp thing too. it worked well.
Although the cardboard idea is good too.
as for a relocation kit, I remember Amsoil making one for vehicles. I installed a dual remote filter setup on my 03, that was nice too.

I have an oil pan with a catch pan with a tube connecting it to the reservoir... not sure if they make these any more, it's a few years old.
