I have to admit I was SHOCKED to see 8000 mile intervals for oil changes. I bought mine as a DEMO and it had 3100 miles on it. They gave me a coupon for my first change but I am anxious to get Mobil1 5-20 into it.

Is the original oil in the truck synthetic or dino oil???

If Dino oil I'm surprised they expect it to go 8000 miles...

Just did my first oil change with mobile 1 full synthetic 5w20 at 2000 miles to get the crap breakin oil out. I'll do it again at 5000 miles, then every 5000 miles after that. I don't care what the manual says, I change it ever 5K miles, and not a mile over = P

ewww....thats bad on your bearings...and it REALLY thins your oil out...you'd be safer just using a high detergent oil like Pennzoil or Valvoline...thats why we have detergents in our oils.

Hey, I read a lot of stuff before I used it. As long as you use it for a small amount of time, it is fine.

I inderstand that, but there is a common misconception that having "dirty" oil is bad...however it is quite the opposite. When your oil becomes "dirty" it is simply the detergents holding the dirt/carbon in suspense...when those detergents break down, they can no longer hold them in suspense, thus, depositing the dirt/carbon on your engines internals. This is why we are STRONGLY recommended to stray away from non-detergent single viscosity engine oils in todays modern engines, as they do not contain the detergents needed to keep our engines in top shape.

Not saying thats the case with you, but working for an oil company I see alot of complaints from engine damage from people that think the oil isnt doing it's job...however, the real reason is they are adding after market additives and stuff to their oils, causeing the additive package built into the oil to not properly do it's job.

I got a question.I put about 100 miles on my truck a month if that.I live about a mile from work and hardly drive it on weekends. When should I change my oil lol. I usually change mine every 3 months is that too soon?

Actually you are working you oil HARDER than someone who drives more...heat cycles kill engine oils...you are great doing what you are doing now...

I really don't go by exact miles more like time and how the oil feels. Used to be a 3000 mile guy now I am into longer intervals with expensive filters and only synthetic of course. I can't say I agree with this talk of all oils the same. It is all about the ingredients of these oils and how they are made. There are tons of tests showing there is a difference. I have never had to open an engine and it can't just be luck. Come to think of it maybe it is that I nearly only buy Chrysler vehicles not the oil :) I did own an Audi A4 once with a sludge prone 1.8L engine and never had an issue with it either. Love to talk about oil but I do not work for an oil company sorry adam.
