There's a few things I believe should be left to the pro's and paint is one of them. When it comes to painting odd thing such a textured plastic there are extra steps and other products to use to ensure a long lasting qality paint job. As far as I know to paint the textured plastic they need to be sanded smooth and some sort of adheasion promoter needs to be used. I know it can be done I have seen it a bunch around here on tow mirrors, they get paint matched a lot. Another option may cost about the same is to get pre painted oem handles find your paint code and just order them. It's just another thought.

I've painted about 40 door handles. You got to do it right. I would suggest you take it to a body shop and have them do it.

You don't need to stand the door handles (or mirrors) you just need to rough them up, clean them really good, use mold release on them to get that plastic 100% clean. Then a good AP and then high build primer!

Not my handles but painted my black express mirrors.

Just used duplicolor ps2(oem silver) and some clear coat. Didn't sand cause I don't mind the texture but some do. Haven't had any chips or fading...turned out pretty good for $20 invested....

Edit: now they have black plastidip on them....go figure.

Lol.. Some things are for the pros, but painting plastic isn't.

Scuff em up real good with some 3m pads

Clean it real good with alcohol or thinner.

Prime it.

Spray it with the duplicolor mentioned above.

Clear coat makes all the difference... After a couple failed attempts with the bs they sell at auto stores... Go with this one from an auto paint supply.

Put them back on in 24 hrs.

If you fk that up, ask someones wife to do it.

If you have no experience on painting exterior pieces, just buy black door handles. I know jimsautoparts and wholesalemopar have them.
