Part Time t case slow to disengage and bangs

Hi guys. I have a '10 1500 trx4 hemi crew.
Occasionally the t case will not disengage for a few minutes then lets go with a bang/ thud like I hit something.
Any ideas?

Almost sounds like the shift mechanism is hanging up. How old is the fluid?

Its original as far as I know. 55,000 kms

A fluid change wouldn't hurt. Might fix it, might not but I would start there...

Ditto on the fluid change, cheapest fix if it works.

Did you end up changing the fluid and did it help? I think I have a problem with my transfer case and I'm trying to do some research.

Also, is it a Borg Warner?

I will get a fluid change booked. Not sure which t case I have. Build sheet just says electric shift on fly part time. It's not the 4auto

Please ask whomever changes the fluid what t case you have. Mine says Borg Warner right on the case. Maybe take a picture? I'm trying to find someone who has the same set up as me so I can narrow down what is wrong with mine.

Not saying this a fix but some guys with ageing electric 4x4's advise going in reverse for a couple of tire rotations after coming out of 4hi/lo. Something about helping re-seat the shifter away from the gearing? At any rate I hope you guys get the answers yer after.
