UPDATE: Picked her up yesterday, in shop today... UPDATE

17, 3500 SRW 6.4. Turn truck on and Radio volume is 0.
I never turn it down when shutting down. Display on dash falshing from speedo to "parkscense off". Was on my way to dealer when every light on dash cam on, radio turned off and all flashed a few times. Truck never shut down, or lost power steering, but as soon as that happened, it was back to normal. Which is good, but I would rather it was still acting up so the service tech could see it.

Me thinks it's the aftermarket remote start ( installed through dealer). Couple times I got in and turned the key to run. Pressed the brake, and as soon as I put it in drive, it stalled. It was directly after when I manually re strated , that the park scenes issues started.

So I'm sitting here at the dealer with a truck that I've owned for less than 24 hrs, hoping it's a easy fix.

Interested what the issue is. My truck did the park sense off randomly for the first time last week. Hasn't done it since - no idea what happened. Highly doubt it is the R/S though, although there is 99% chance they will say it is.

You called this one. Service manager said it's definitely the RS, and I tend to agree. The issue started after the truck stalled when putting it in gear after using the RS.

I'm at the vendor who installed the RS. Hopefully they find a loose wire or something simple.

If the issue continues, I'll have the RS pulled. If that doesn't work, then it's the truck.

It sounds to me like a bad connection to the CAN bus as I had a similar issue. I'd definitely be looking at the remote start.

So, from the Info I got from here, I asked if everything was soldered, the owner himself took me into the shop to show me the install. Not knowing what the hell I was looking at, lol, it looked good. He assured me everything was soldered. They did unhook the modules(there word) to re set the system.

Of course, they were unable to replicate the issue.

My options are to run it, and if it happens again to unhook the RS and if it continues, its the truck . If not, then it's the RS system.

My thoughts, if it turns out to be the RS, get rid of the aftermarket RS altogether and get the factory RS.

Honestly, if the shop cut and spliced wires then they're questionable already. There are plug and play harnesses available for these trucks and there's no good reason to modify any factory wiring. Even if there is an issue with the truck, the dealer has an easy avenue to pass blame because of the work that's been done. Legally you're protected, but it could cause an extra hassle you shouldn't have with a brand new truck.

The communications system in these trucks are pretty sensitive. I had a bad connection to the CAN bus (not a short or a bad module, just a poor connection) and it basically rendered the truck unusable. Every light and warning message the thing had was thrown at me. It would refuse to start, it would stall, it would shift wrong, etc. So, even if you unplug the remote start module and the problem persists, it doesn't mean it's not a result of the installation.

Good luck and keep us posted. It totally sucks that you have to deal with this on a new truck and I wish you the best.

I really hope It was a simple glitch. I did ask my service manager about the spliced wires if we get rid of the aftermarket RS. He said they would have to be replaced. So he's really hoping it was just a glitch also.

My truck has done the park sense off and radio flicker, shut off and restart before. No idea why. I just roll with it.

Parksense on mine will randomly turn off and immediately turn back on. Not very often, every 6 months or so.

Parksence turning on and off, every light on dash randomly coming on, radio turning off. Truck shutting of when putting it in gear, isn't something I'm willing to "roll with". Especially on a truck that's a day old.

I agree, something is clearly very wrong with something to be having all those issues. I hope it is resolved quickly.

I have been fortunate to not have any other issues other than the parksense randomly turning off only to immediately turn itself back on a couple of times a year.
