Hi mowin,

Sorry to hear about this! I'd be happy to follow up with your dealership for you if needed, just PM our page with your VIN and let me know.

Thanks Andrea.

I had the issue happen two more times where the "parksence off" keeps flashing on the display. I took a video of it today. It only happens when I use the RS. Not every time though. It does frequently shut down once I put it in gear after using the RS.

Called my service manager today. Told him I want this remote gone. His response was he's going to talk with the shop that installed the system. I'm at the point I don't care what that guy has to say. Last time I talked to him, he flat out said in know way is it his system. Funny I only have issues after using his system.

My confidence in this RS is gone.

I'll let my service manager handle it for the time being. But I will not use the RS again.

Well, I happened again for the 2nd time today.

So to appease the owner of the shop that installed the RS system, I had it unhooked.
He's still convinced his system is not at fault. Funny, I only have issues when I use the RS, never when I manually start.

The shop owner then informed me, that while unhooked, if I don't have any issues, he's going to replace the RS system.

I politely informed him, that if, while unhooked, it doesn't happen again, he's removing the RS, and not replacing it.

I'll give it to Monday. If there's no issues with the truck while the RS is unhooked, it's coming out.

Just curious, why did you go aftermarket remote start as opposed to a Mopar unit?

Cost was one reason, and the factory remote sucks as far as range. There's times my wife's Jeep won't start when were 60' away with a few walls in the way. Her jeep is only 8 months old, so it's not weak batteries in the key fob.

Agree..range, features and price difference is ridiculous between OEM and after-market. Finding a good shop to install them is another story. I've been kept waiiting 6 or 7 hours while they start new installs and mine sits. Those shops will never get my business again, obviously.

Yes what brand of r/s is it? what brand of module did they use? Did they solder? military splice? t-tap? or use a t-harness?

but i have to agree you will never get a factory unit that compares to an aftermarket in features and range. unless you solely rely on the cell phone app remote starts.

OP just an FYI if it continues when its disconnected throw the magnusson-moss act at them.

They said everything was soldered. No t- taps.

It's a compustart system. No clue on module.

We have done multiple systems in Rams and other cars with Compustar with no issues. Either it's not R/S or installer error. Almost sounds like the wrong firmware is on the brain, or data connections aren't soldered.

Ok, system has been unhooked, and I'm still getting a flash or spike from my dash lights.
Happens randomly, the dash lights get very bright for a split second.
I assumed it was being caused by the RS, but it may not. Dont know if it's a separate issue or linked to the RS issues.

However, I haven't had any stalling when putting it in gear, and no parksence off flashing on the display.

ok I got the factory remote the distance issue is if you are facing away from the receiver I can walk out of the mall and my truck is at the other end of the lot approximately 200ft and it will start before I exit the front doors.

it all depends on how you are facing the vehicle, whats around you. because key fobs have to accept interference the more vehicles around the worse off you are for range.

even a basic aftermarket will get you easily 500'+ even on a bad day

I'd be happy with 200' with my wife's jeep. Lucky to get 60' with a couple walls in the way. Maybe 100' line of sight.

So after 6 days and a 1600mi road trip with the RS unhooked, I had no issues with stalling or parkscense flashing on and off.

I did have the Gage cluster flash a few times.

Called dealer and told him the aftermarket RS needs to go.

This is the exact reason why I would never install an aftermarket remote start. If it is a dealer issue they have a reason to avoid warranty, if it is not you could be chasing gremlins forever because the harness was cut.

I am sorry you have had such troubles and hope it gets resolved. I hope next time you consider using factory despite the shorter range.

Dealer can't avoid warranty in this case. I went through them for the remote start.

Now my dealer is telling me there's no way they can add the factory remote on my truck.

Really? Did he say why?
