Program Key Fob

I did a search and nothing really came up, if this has been asked before I'm sorry.

I have an extra key fob that I got when I bought my RAM however it does not work. I put a new battery in it and went to the dealer and they tested it out on a RF detector and verified it transmitted.

Am I able to program it to my truck or do I have to go through the dealer to get this done? It is still under warranty and I was told that it would be covered I just don't want to drop the truck off and wait for half a day to get it done.

Dealers have to hoop up their computer to your truck to program. Some dealers will charge some may not

you may get lucky and find a locksmith that has the ability to do it also.

You will need a locksmith with the puter program or the dealer.

It should only take about 15-20 minutes at the most to get the FOB programmed.

Yep, had a mobile locksmith meet me in parking lot. Took all of 10 minutes to cut the key and program FOB. He even lightened my wallet by $60!

Having the exact problem right now. Dealer had to order me a new fob. Have to go in and they reprogam it. It's under warranty.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll have to make an appointment at my local dealer to get this done under warranty.
