Hey guys, was wondering if anyone had dealt with anything similar. So my driver side leather seat bottom is falling apart. They replaced the bottom once, did a horrendous job and theyre doing it again.. I guess I just have to understand Chrysler uses garbage quality leather and thats that.

My trucks a black sport, and the finish is flaking away off of one of the wheels. My purchasing dealer says Chrysler authorized for some random wheel refinishing place to refinish my wheel..

My box has spots in the clear coat which look like dents which Chrsyler approved to get the whole side of my box refinished.. but again its some random mom and pops body shop.

What kind of accountability do they hold to these random places? The trucks got 6000km (3700miles) and Ive had it two months. What if these guys do a ****** job? Am I just stuck with possible garbage work done by randoms? Just worried theyre gonna take something bad and just make it worse. The service manager tells me these are my only options.. either let the randoms do the work, or just leave the truck looking like ****. Any input appreciated!

Wow. Im sorry to hear of your problems. Id be worried as well that the repair work could be worse than the problems. Doing a nice job painting black with no defects such as dirt or swirls is hard. Id be concerned. Also I wouldnt want a new wheel refinished by a mobile repair service. The repair wont match perfectly and wont last. Id start by calling the Chrysler customer support number. Do you have Lemon Law or similar? Id start mentioning that if you need to as well.

You mentioned km so I'll go out on a limb and guess yer in glorious Canadia. My brother-in-law was in a similar boat up there and he collected a few estimates from local shops he felt ok with and pressed the dealer 'til they folded. Prices were close enough that they finally threw up their hands and caved.

"Oh, sweet debt. Thy name is Truck."

where did he say anything about mobile? why wouldnt it match? why wouldnt it last?

im a little surprised that they would have the wheel refinished rather then replacing it, but a good wheel repair shop should have no problem fixing that. having a local shop repaint the bed is typical though. not sure what exactly what other option your were looking for. if your concerned about that places they are having you go to check them out first. if you dont like them your could try and fight it to go somewhere else but that may go no where. if your truck doesnt get fixed properly the dealer/chrysler still has to make it right.

The dealership near me sends out bodyand paint work also. If they do a ****** job just bring it back to the dealership and show them and have it done again

I can tell you that your truck is not the first one to come through there with a paint defect. Most dealers do not do body work. They are probably not going to sublet work to a shop that is going to have problems. Just let them do it and if there is an issue just take it back to the dealer.

Regarding the leather, that sucks man, but Chrysler as a whole doesn't use ****** leather. I believe the higher level your truck is the higher grade leather that goes in. My Longhorn for example has a much thicker leather than a Laramie, it's smooth and soft like a baby's ass lol. Not sure if the limited has a higher grade again or not.

I had my dealer send my truck out for clear coat work to a small shop. You'd never notice that any work was done, they did a great job! Just let them do it and if something goes wrong have them do it again is my advice!

thanks for the input guys. I work for a dealership, and my experience with sublet work to "non manufacturer" places has been terrible, every single time. Thats the reason Im leary. But Im gonna trust them and let them do their thing, and if it turns out how I think its going to turn out, I guess I just look into what I have to do from there. Will let you guys know how it goes when I get the truck back.

Think of the dealer as a hospital for warranty work. If they don't have a specialist on staff, they send you to a partner in their network. I'd rather have a specialist performing repairs instead of a "general practitioner".

I've never had or delt with a dealer that didn't do there own body work. And I wouldn't, I've had seat work done that they have a guy come in and work at it in the dealers shop. As for the wheel repair, Chrysler needs to pony up for a new wheel. There is a manufacturer defect in that wheel. They would be putting a new one on mine.

Well, exactly what I feared is exactly what happened.

I just went to see the truck, they painted the whole bed side and it looks terrible. It's all white scratches you can see in the sun, and they refinished the wheel, and rattle can tremclad highschool job is the best way to describe how it looks. They said they're gonna try and get Chrysler to authorize a new wheel, and they're gonna "take care" of the scratches.

Tried to give it back looking worse than I brought it in.

On a positive note, the new seat looks good, Haha.

I hope none of you have to go through this.

Somehow the bottom of my black 14 Sport doors came from the factory without being painted....they were only clear coated. Obviously I was like "hell no" and made Chrysler paint them. My Ram dealer sent them to their body shop (Nissan). A year later the paint start to just chip off and I was like "HELL NO!". Needless to say, it was painted much better the 2nd time around. Other than my time, it cost me nothing.

Sorry to hear this. Unfortunately, in the 1st year of ownership, I went to the dealership 9 times for 15 different warranty claims. All of them were fixed, in other words, not a figment of my imagination.

Did you look the truck over before you took possession? If it had spots in the clear coat that looked like dents I'd never have taken it in the first place. It sucks what you're going through and i hope it all works out for you.
