I need to ask you guys to do me a slight favor...

this is not a bash thread or a nannynanny booboo but a FYI

Run over to RamTrucks.com

RAM Trucks - Towing & Payload capacity

On the right in red is "look up my vehicle"...

Drop in your vin and report back with the numbers and your truck specs... No need to post your VIN here...

I'll start;

2017 Hemi CC 4x4 Laramie

Towing = 10,010
Payload = 1330

The reason I ask is that every Eco I looked at in a 500 mile radius in a 4x4 CC could only tow ~7000lbs. And in another thread I had someone state they are within 1000lbs of the Hemi. Did I miss something?

its probably the gears. the dealers are most likely ordering the 3.55's for the eco's for max fuel economy. an eco with 3.92's should have a capacity of around 8500lbs, within 1500lbs of your hemi.

EDIT: i should also add that for your hemi to have a 10000 lb tow capacity you also have 3.92 gears as well.

The Hemi is the only one with the 10K payload and even then it is not every Hemi. It all depends how the truck is equipped, options, rear end, cab, quad, crew etc. The closest you can currently come with the EcoDiesel is somewhere around 9k lbs, but a nicely equipped Crew Cab will be some what lower than that.

Truck weight is a big factor.

I get all that... I get it... BUT the fact of the matter, noone has posted the Eco specs yet.

I hear they are within 1000 yet now you say 1500. I just wanted to see the ACTUAL, NOT MAYBE THIS AND YOU HAVE THAT, just the straight up this is what RAM says.

ANd still noone.

Will you accept ratings from RAM's website as ample proof?

In the higher trim levels, the difference is more than 1000 lbs. But in some lesser trim levels, the difference is close to 1000. Here are some examples.

OP, keep in mind these are max numbers. Payload and towing will be further affected by additional vehicle options. Most limiteds I saw were below 1000 lbs payload, and by extension towing would be that much less as well.

ram has a chart with all the different truck/motor/transmission/gear configurations and their towing capacities where you can see this for yourself. comparably equipped eco vs hemi tow capacities range anywhere from about 500-1500 lbs difference. saying that they are within 1000lbs of each other is an average.

This ^

My limited Ecodiesel has about 950 lbs of payload. Pathetic for a truck.
