So, ever since I bought this truck 6 months ago i've had all kinds of issues with the locking and unlocking of the truck. This key fob is either faulty or way to sensitive. the latest totally annoying thing it's doing is when I park my truck and turn off the key it's automatically putting both my front windows down as soon as I pull the key out of the ignition. as if i'm using the lock button to make them go down automatically. I also more times than not have to stand beside the truck and hit the lock or unlock button several times because if I hit the lock button once it will lock and then instantly unlock. so frustrating.
Rant over..i'll try a new battery soon but i'm not sure that's the issue.

I've had similar issues with mine recently too. The fob started being less sensitive and I would have to mash the lock/unlock buttons for it to register. When I was at the dealer getting another issue fixed, the parts guy said that the chips in our fobs just start to stop working after time, especially since our trucks are about 6 years old. He said to try and change the battery first, and if that doesn't work we'll have to get a new fob entirely. He quoted me on the price and I think it was around $200 for the fob and programming. Hope this helps.

Common problem, the contacts are either dirty or the little rubber nubs that active the buttons have come loose and that's causing your problem. If you check out YouTube you can find lots of videos showing how to tell if that's your problem and how to fix it.

I'm really hoping it will fix it because the idea of spending $200 on a new one is not pleasing to me at all.

Thanks Andrea, if the battery doesn't fix it i'll let you know for sure as i'm not very impressed with my local dealer but the next closest is quite some distance away. I appreciate the offer of help.

My lock button got extra sensitive I found the you tube video on repairing key fob (its the one with three parts to it) I was able to repair mine without parts but the 3rd of three video also list a place where you can buy fob parts.

On my 11 the key fob was supposed to opwen the windows. If you are hitting the lock function three times and holding it, that is a normal function depending on model year.

Yeah my truck is also a 2011. That's just the thing.. I'm not touching any of the buttons. All I do is turn the key and pull it out of the ignition. It's almost as if I can hover over the buttons and get them to activate.

Update: thank you so much for recommending these videos. I watched them, heard the guy mention a website where he bought his fob parts. After checking out the site I ordered the rubber fob section with the buttons Ave anew battery, took my fob apart, noticed the little metal pieces had come unglued. Out my old electrical board in the new rubber and installed the battery and I'm good as new. The fob now has a nice new click feel every time I press the buttons. Great fix for $14. Including battery and shipping.

Thanks for letting us know. That might save someone else a pretty good hunk of change.
