Does your truck have a split driveshaft?? If it does, I would get under and shake the u-joint coupling at the joint to see how much play there is in the mount. My Dakota developed the dreaded vibration and dealer wouldn't/couldn't fix it. I checked the free play against a new truck and it was substantial. Replaced the "doughnut" and problem went away.

Thanks for your input , I have a one piece shaft and I've had it balanced and new ujoints installed , I questioned everyone this , does the front shaft spin while in 2WD ???? If so perhaps my front joints are bad ??? I'm grasping at straws , I mean if you told me $2k will fix it my next question would be who do I make the check out to???

Oh I meant to say this earlier... I test drove a new 2016 ram 1500 before I bought my used one. I definitely remember it shaking and it had 20 miles on it. it shook really bad too. Just some food for thought... That being said my 14 road smooth tonight didn't even notice it. Ignore the grammar errors im on the phone.

No judging here ... Thanks , so what your saying is that they're huge POS and we should tolerate it ..... I never had this problem and consider myself lucky that I got 5 good year outta her , if I had a 2015 or newer or had it from new , truck would never leave the dealer ship . That's down right stealing your money . $50 k is a whole lotta loot , just disgusting that we buy these trucks and are so proud of them and they crap on us and can't even fix what they sell .
Rant over

Yea I def remember the new 2016 shaking a lot and I remember telling my pops that it shook a ton. He wrote it off as a tire imbalance and I agreed. That being said my 2014 shook on the way home from the dealer after I bought her. I figured it was a tire out of balance like the new one and honestly in my case I believe it is my issue.

I took my 2014 out last night and she was smooth as could be so who knows. Maybe our trucks have personality disorders? I only noticed mine shaking at high speeds of 85-90 which is higher then the regulated speed limit anyways. I am not going to let it get me down. Maybe my woman will ride in my truck more often if it does vibrate from time to time haha :naughty:

Yeah heard all those, funny how they throw all the non warranty issues at you ???? I'm having front shaft balanced and u joints changed Tuesday .. We'll see . It's all out of pocket at this point, just want the truck repaired. I threw 800 lbs of cement on the bed so that they's no mistaking the problem. With the bed loaded down , replicating a trailer's tongue load the truck vibrates constantly and you don't really need to hunt for a sweet spot. 60-75 and no matter what RPM range from 1800- 4500 she shimys down the road .
At this point they gotta start finding something.

OP, you said the drives haft was balanced, but is it straight? If it didn't have u-jts installed, you could check it between centers on a lathe for runout. But since it is loaded with u-jts and frt slip yoke, you need to borrow some V-blocks, rotate the driveshaft by hand and read the runout with a dial indicator. If it's over 0.010", it needs straightening. If it's over 0.035" it may be more than a torch and a wet rag can straighten.

Had mine done at a driveshaft specialist and was told it was staraightened and balanced , all I could do is believe him , there's no change in my problem though ..... I was under there today and I have the rear loaded down so I thought let me check a couple things. I found the output bearing on the transfer case going to Front shaft has some play ??? Not a lot but I'm able to shake it and I had my bride sit in drivers seat and she said it felt very similar to the vibration. Could this be the problem ??? Anyone have this issues ?? God I hope I'm getting close !!!! Truck goes in Tuesday to driveshaft guy again, was gonna have front joint and shaft done, but now I gonna ask him to check that out also. Or should I bring it to tranny guy??? I hate to deal with the dealer even though they're the ones responsible !!!!!! This is going on since May & I already dropped about $2000 into her.
