Remote start

I remote started my new/used 2011 Dodge Ram tonight because it's snowing like hell and I wanted to defrost the windows. I came out five minutes later and the truck was already turned off it did warm the windshield a little bit but not completely. Can it be programmed to run longer on remote start.?

Not sure about your year but my 2014 will run for about 10 minutes before shutting off - usually long enough to defrost the windshield. I've honestly never known (and have wondered) if the truck is smart enough to turn on the defrost if it's below a certain temperature. I can't seem to pay enough attention to remember if I left it on the night before.

Another thing to keep in mind is the remote start will shut the truck off with either a low fuel light or check-engine light.

My 09' seems to go on without a timer. I have left it for more than 15 mins running when it had over an inch of ice on the window.
I had no choice as all the doors were froze shut, lucky that day for remote start.
I aways leave the truck with Heat and blower on max.

My 2015 turns off after reading
15 minutes also when the Temps low enough it turns on the driver seat and steering wheel along with mirror defrost. Sometimes the window defrost is on too

Yes. Not sure what you have but on mine it states - We can set ANY Run Time you desire up to 60 minutes. Factory Default is 15 Minutes.

My 15 i just traded in did the same turn off after a few mins and then would not start back up using the key fob , hope my new one don't start that because it nice to get in a cool truck in the texas summers

Hi jljbtm,

Page 27 of your Owner's Manual, which you can download from the Knowledge Center on www.mopar.com, states:

"• The engine can be started two consecutive times (two 15-minute cycles) with the RKE transmitter. However, the ignition switch must be cycled to the ON/RUN position before you can repeat the start sequence for a third cycle."

If your vehicle is equipped with the factory remote start system and isn't operating as described above I would recommend visiting your local dealership for further diagnosis. Please let me know if you have any additional questions!

Also, if your low fuel light is on, it will turn off right away.

5 min is wrong it should go for 15. Your right there is no adjustment for time.

I've noticed lately just how crazy sensitive the key fob is.. Of I remote start my 2011 and barely run my finger across the fob down where the x2 is the truck will shut off. It's as if you don't need to push the button, just graze it. When I have my key in my pocket of my pants my lights are constantly blinking as I move as if I'm running my finger across the lock and unlock button. I guess what I'm saying is did you accidently hit the fob to turn it off?

I am experiencing this with my aftermarket Flashlogic remote starter as well. It uses the factor fob. Push lock button x3 to start.
