so is there a rust warranty on a 2013 Ram 1500? about 58,000 miles. i have the express and noticed a couple of months ago that the paint on my rear bumper was flaking. today i was at the gas station filling gas cans and noticed a rust bubble on my drivers bed side right in the center of my wheel well. i am pretty good at washing the salt off in the winter and actually rarely drove it the last 2 winters as i work from home now. we had a 2006 commander before this that had 100,000 miles on it before it started to rust. pretty disappointing that a 4 year old, well maintained, truck is rusting already. i am pretty fanatical about keeping my vehicles clean and always spray the undercarriage and wheel wells when i wash it

any idea on the rust warranty?

To me, any rust warranty from any truck manufacture will have you jumping thru hoops on trying to make claims on rust.
It will be more of a headache than it is worth.
This is what I did for my baby.

just found a document saying it is 5 year 100,000 miles. there are no scratches, dents, or dings on the truck anywhere so can't see how they could deny this? going to call the dealer tomorrow. i am the 2nd owner (bought it 7/13 with about 5000 miles). don't see any wording saying its not transferrable

i think my first call tomorrow will be to my friend who owns a big body shop and see if he has dealt with this before. after that i will try the dealer then straight to Dodge. wish me luck

my step-father has a 2014 that went through 3 sets of bumpers in the first 6 months. they were rusting after 1 month. when they put the 3rd set on he told them if they rusted then he wanted painted ones. the last set has held up since then

I had a issue with rust on my passenger side on the wheel well, I had a body shop cut it out and paint and install mopar fender flares. mine was on the fender lip, where the two metal panels come together.

I snake a hose up in the whell wells and flush them out. My body shop guys says that vehicles are staring to rust from the facory and vehicles are just not mad like they used to be .

just a shame that a $40,000 truck can't even last 4 years

Hate to be a bubble buster.... The warranty is for perforation, that means a full rusted thru hole. They will not warranty surface rust/paint bubbles. Wish you luck but be prepared.... On a positive note, you caught them early enough the repair should be reasonable.

Picking up my 2014 Ram Sport this week for paint flaking off the hood. It was on the side of the hood where it rolls under to the bottom. I showed them it was clearly from not fully spraying it as it was light blue near the windshield (I have a dark blue truck). Mopar said no go, they only cover rust if it rusts through (holes) in the 5 year, 100k warranty. Dealer covered most of the repair as a good will, I paid $250.

I think it is BS that I buy a 46k truck and the 4k warranty and deal with paint problems in the first 3 years. Also my truck is at 78k miles but I don't see how that plays into paint issues.

Hi dhay13,

Per page 8 of your vehicle's warranty manual:

"Corrosion Warranty
This warranty covers the cost of all parts and labor needed to repair or replace any sheet metal panels that get holes from rust or other corrosion. If a hole occurs because of something other than corrosion, this warranty
does not apply. Cosmetic or surface corrosion — resulting, for example, from stone chips or scratches in the paint — is not covered. For more details on what isn’t covered by this warranty, see 3.5."

You can view and download your Warranty Manual from www.mopar.com for more information regarding the warranties on your vehicle. Feel free to PM our page with any additional questions!

Thanks! I will say that if they do not fix it then it will be traded in before the end of the year and it won't be another Dodge product. I can promise that. My next one will likely be a diesel and I'm not spending $60k for it to rust out in 4 years. We have had Dodge products for about the last 15 years and so far so good but this is something I can't and won't compromise on. At the rate it is falling apart it won't be long until there is a hole and probably a few more spots will pop up before long.

just talked to my friend and he said to get it to a dealership ASAP to get it documented because if it pops open then they will likely deny it by saying that it was an exterior issue such as a scratch or chip. he also said they probably won't do anything until it pops but if it is documented by them then they can't argue the origin. he did say if that dealer has seen a few of these they may just fix it now knowing it will eventually pop through. so now to call the dealer and get it there for them to document it. wish me luck!

My 1 year old, 2k mile, $57k Chrysler 300 developed two bare spots next to the spoiler because it expands and contracts with heat and digs into the trunk lid. So aggravating, and Chrysler couldn't care less.

*You don't wanna see how Ford's aluminum holds up in the salt, let alone what GM's waxseal chassis crap holds up like. Just saying.

Went to the dealership today. The paint has been flaking off my rear bumper for a few months now so I also showed them that and he said Chrysler will not cover flaking paint? Looks to me like poor prep work but I am more concerned with the new found rust spot. He took pictures and documented it but said they have different factory warranties, some 50,000 mile, some 75,000 and some 100,000 and there was no way to know until he entered it into the system. So we will see but it already sounds like he is setting me up to get screwed (mine has 57,000 miles)
