I know this is just surface rust but 1200 miles and at a critical joint in the drive train. Anyone else? And I'm in phx. This should be there, right?

that type of steel will rust in a heart beat. Especialy beacuse it is not coated like your frame. dont worry about it as the only thing that will slow it down ( not stop it) is rust preventative sprays. NOT Zebart but somthing like this

I'm so used to my old rusty 98 here in rust belt ohio that I couldnt find the rust you're talking about lol. It's fine, grease it up if it makes you feel better.

Us AZ guys aren't used to seeing rust anywhere. It probably came from the factory that way.

I wouldn't sweat it. Most of those parts are made of a different alloy where that rust layer actually protects more than it harms. Oxidation of certain metal compounds is the best form of protection.

Ask any Wrangler owner. The drive shafts are usually completely oxidized from the factory.

My driveshaft is waaaaaayyyyy more rusted than that. Living in the Northeast, unless it's made out of aluminum, every driveshaft is rusted on every truck.

Thanks guys. Never saw this on my ford or Chevy and both of those had more miles than this. Even my camaro didn't have any rust underneath it.

Some trucks have a composite driveshaft but the yokes would still be rusty as hell.

My 2013 F150 had an aluminum driveshaft.
