Hello all, new member, first time user but not at all first time reader. I'll get right to the point I've got a 2013 Ram 2500 4x4 with the 6.7 Cummins with approximately 60k miles. Recieved a recall notice for my alternator stating that 2007-2013 ram trucks equipped with my specific alternator are subject to "rapid alternator failure" due to a bad diode. Through extensive research talking to my local dealer and FCA customer service I've learned that the alternator is in the trucks equipped with the three prong "120v" "wall outlet" as it would seem. The recall is also included in the "police chargers", the rapid alternator failure takes place after you've used the outlet. So after talking to all these people I have learned that FCA has recalled ALL of these alternators as in there are NONE and they are scheduled to have something out first quarter of this year(Jan-March). The trick is flashing BRAKE and the TRACTION CONTROL symbol and the boot meter is jumping 11-14v rapidly which are the symptoms stated in the recall. So basically I have a four year old truck the dealer can't even fix that I need. I have further information on the situation but it's too much to post unless asked. All this being said is anyone else having this issue and what are you doing about it? And or if you are having this issue what are your symptoms?
