So, ive had my second gen for about 3 years now. Love the **** out of it. Its got 192,000 on it now and id like to say its been problem free but I cant and thats fine with me. However, Ive come across this truck and Id like your guys' opinion on it. The only thing that has me concerned are the miles.

Everything else looks clean, at least from the pictures. Not sure if I like the fact that its completely loaded. I do a lot of fishing, hunting, camping etc and idk if I want something that nice. Im also not a huge fan of the console shifter. I think all trucks should have a column shifter but thats a story for another day.

So what do yall think? Its obviously a nice truck, but would you buy it knowing the mileage?

I would not be very concerned about the motor, trans my be an issue. My main concern would be the electrical items. How much more use before they start having issues???

I love my Rams. Have driven only Rams since 2004. But not sure I would consider this one, especially as a daily driver.

Looks like a nice truck but that is a crazy amount of miles for a gas truck (or any truck for that matter). A lot would depend on how handy you are and how willing you are to work on it. At that mileage I've got to thing all the things like starter, alternator, water pump, suspension parts, etc, etc are coming up.

As truck become more complex (and I get older and lazier :)) I get increasingly less motivated to work on them. Cars and trucks growing up were easy enough to work on but these days I don't even know where to start. I check the oil and add washer fluid. After that I leave it to the guys who know what they are doing.

Alright good to know. What would be your max amount of miles youd consider on 4th gen, regardless of year?

they should have 1500 or 2000 grand to play with. if you can get it for 10500.00 or less, might be good. keep in mind, it is an 8 year old truck with very high mileage. hopefully some 2009 owners will jump in.

I would go over this truck thoroughly. Leave nothing unquestioned. Offer 11000 and see what happens. Average mileage a year was 24000. Nice truck. Plus you do not like the console shift

To me the purchase price is somewhat irrelevant.... within some reason. Does saving $1000 really matter if the tranny goes out? You could very easily add up some common repairs/failures on a 220K mile truck to reach the purchase price.

Is it high mileage ?? is it an 8 yr old truck, or a 9 yr old truck ?? An 09 could have been bought late 08, which means even more mileage.

If you have a 45 or so mile drive to work, and then you drive back home every work day, that's 23,400 right there per year, and then you still have weekends & normal driving around town, sop add in another 1200 or so miles a year for 8-9 yrs, and you are there.

I see it as normal mileage, not high.........lots of people commute 40-50 miles every day which puts 90-100 miles on their vehicles just going to & from work.

Its high for me too. The price just drew me in for being a loaded 4th gen. But when I do get a 4th gen I plan on keeping it for a long while. So 220,000 doesnt give me a lot of life left in it.

But I do agree, 220,000 could be normal mileage if its mainly highway like the guy said it was.

Too me, that would be a 5k-6k truck, not a 12.5k truck.. I dont care how nice it is I wouldn't pay anything near what he is asking for it at that mileage..

Depends on where you're at. Here in Kansas, thats not far off of what they're going for even with the mileage. I agree its a little too high but Id still give him 10k for it if hed be willing to go down that far.

2nd gens, like the one I have, are going for 5-8k all day long here. Even with 190k on the clock. I understand that to you that would be 5-6k truck, but thats so so low for what the truck is.

Its got ever bell and whistle from that year. The guy, while asking too much, is not that far off. Imo.

I agree, might go as much at 8K for that with so many miles. I'd offer $7500 and tell him to give you a call if he wants to sell it. Then keep looking. It does look nice though, but like others have said, with that many miles you will have problems. If you need to put 3K into it over the next year, now you've paid 10,500.

220k miles doesn't automatically mean it will have issues. Yes it has been driven a lot but it is still only an 8 year old truck. That said, chances are it need some work or will soon. Personally, over 200k miles on a 2009 is just more than I would want. If I am buying a 2009 truck I'd look for something around 100k and be willing to pay more. Even if he was asking $8k for this I wouldn't buy it. Just don't want that kind of miles on a truck that is only 8 years old.

Exactly. I dont even have 200k on my 2000. lol
