Someone at dealership dented my truck and deleted the video.

Yesterday I went to the dealership to have them look at the protective plastic film on my rear bumper. It has dirt under it and I wanted them to replace it. Today I noticed a huge door ding in the side of my rear passenger door. Livid I took out my memory card from my dash cam to have a look at who did it.

I loaded up the computer popped open the video files thinking thank god for this camera I have got this son of *****. Then to my surprise all the videos from February 9th until this morning are all gone. Everything! Somebody went into the camera and deleted the evidence. The dealer is the only one who could have accessed that camera. What do I do? Will the dealer be honest and actually find out which employee is responsible or am a f@$&? a93f6c0be406670cac3e0ae13d031412.jpg4dd409ccd552b78a48491d9df8d15bcf.jpg63d4e9595842c0215c298a599893530b.jpg83a36343937f836877011ab8aee5fe3f.jpg

Not yet I have to call them tomorrow I literally just figured all this out. I'm hoping a manager will do the right thing and find who's responsible and do what's right and fix my truck. Even if it's just for a good image and not having someone going around giving them a bad name

With no other information available IMHO will the dealer own up to it is a dream. Now depending on any past relationship you may have with the dealership or if you know anyone that works there that might help you--maybe there is a chance. I understand that **** happens but when someone goes to the trouble of erasing any record from your camera, I think they have shown what lengths they will go to avoid taking responsibility. I don't blame you for being pissed!!!! If the dealer won't fix the ding you might look for a paintless dent removal company in your area. They usually do a really good job.

If the dealer tells you that they aren't going to do anything for you, then take it to a PDR (Paintless Dent Repair) guy and for a $100 you will never know it was there.

Well I'm going there tomorrow and showing them what I found and that the video is gone. And I'm going to be disgustingly nice. But also tell him. It's obvious someone here did it. You can either do what's right and own up to you mistake and keep my trust. Or I will go to the police I will go to the internet and I will make sure everyone in the mopar club for my area knows not to do business with you. I already have a dentless repair friend who will do it for free but he shouldn't have to fix their mistake they should. So I will try there first. Lucky for me when it comes to the scuffs though I just got my new polisher last week for instances like this.

I thought for sure it was a guy in a suburban that parked way too close to me at the dealer that did it. He had a daughter that got out of the passenger side right by where that dent was. Thought I had him I was thrilled then to my surprise everything was gone

I mean it's not like it will be costly to own up to it. They won't have to pay for anything they have their own body shop that can do it and I'm sure a paintless dent repair guy and a buffer. They might just go ahead and say f it we will fix it

When someone deletes a photo/video from one of those memory cards, the files aren't actually gone. Download a free recovery utility to restore the deleted files.

Good luck...

You know I'm hoping a manger will do the right thing. Yeah a minimum wage employee won't. They need their job but a manager needs to keep a good name to their dealership he'd be smart to do what's right especially when they have their own body shop to fix it.

This is why I have the manager of the service department walk around my truck with me to verify there is no damage done. Saves a lot of headaches in the long run.
