Strange thing happening.. What is it?

The past couple days I've noticed that when I come to a stop at a light or anywhere I get a thump from the rear and I feel the truck act like it wants to move forward. As if the gears are trying to keep me going forward. The is about 1 second delay. So I so completely...1 second later light thump and it jerks forward. Thoughts?

Your fuel sloshing forward in the tank and coming to an abrupt stop? That would give you a bit of a delay. My 2011 Laramie did this but I haven't yet noticed on my 2016.

32 gallon gas tank thump. no baffles in the tank.

Yup, get the same thing in mine, most noticeable with just under a half tank left.

I've always heard three different theories.
1. Fuel slosh, as described by others above.
2. Transmission shifting.
3. Two piece driveshaft slipping slightly together and then back apart (or vice versa).

Regardless of which one is correct, it is normal and nothing to worry about.

Mine does it too. Thump at an almost complete stop, then a slight delay when I go to accelerate again. I have a 1 piece driveshaft so I assume it's the fuel.

Is it is fuel, just fill the tank full if thump still appears, try to run with a scanner connected to make some logs to see how shifting is done.

my 2014 and 2015 did it my 2016 doesn't.annoying as hell.common denominator with the first two 3.92 gears ,two piece driveshafts and maybe us built transmissions.i greased the drive shaft on the 15 and it still did it so i rule that out.and against popular belief in 15 and 2016 anyway not all hemi 8 speeds are built in germany.on my window sticker the 15 said trans origin usa and the 2016 has germany the 16 is a 4x4 though so maybe 4x4 transmissions are built there.
