I'm going to drop off my truck tomorrow to see if I have a manifold leak. My question is about warranty? It's a 2011 with 73K miles. I keep hearing about some 8 year 80k mile warranty on exhaust? Is that factory warranty for all 1500's or part of an extended warranty?

Iirc, there is a federally mandated warranty on certain pollution systems. I don't believe this covers the manifold.

if it affects the emissions it does and if its leaking before the cats it will affect your exhaust readouts.

Manifolds are before the cats... So where can I find information on this warranty? Any one in the forum from Chrysler?

There are some emission components covered for 80K, but I don't think the manifold is one of them. They are only covered for 24K.

If you catch them in a good mood, the dealer can look up your VIN and manifold part number and tell you if it would be covered.

I think only the catalytic converter and powertrain control module are covered for 80K. HD trucks have a 50K performance warranty, otherwise 24K and only becomes effective if your truck fails an emission test and cannot be driven.

Your warranty booklet or owners manual should have the details.

It can be covered under the power train warranty, dunno what that was in 2011. A good will warranty is also possible.

It won't hurt to ask. Nissan replaced both cracked manifolds on my Titan under the EPA warranty when it had ~60k miles on it. Well outside of their factory warranties.

I'm curious as to when the first class action lawsuit or repair order /recall will be given for these crappy manifolds.... I'm about to replace #2 in 1 year.... complete junk and headers are a difficult thing to install in California

Ever thought about doing a set of shorties? If you're just looking to get rid of the factory garbage this might be an option. I think a couple brands even use the factory y-pipe/cats.
