Get the 3.92 rear end like a couple guys said but also be sure to get an LSD. A must have option IMO.

2.7. Sorry that was a typo. I test drove the Ram today. Seems as though my 2.7 is a little faster off the line but once it gets going, the Hemi outshines it forsure!

I liked the interior of the Ram for the most part. Only thing I didn't like about the interior when comparing it to my Ford is that the buttons and options on the screen seem to be a little clustered up together. A lot to take it and a little complicated. Maybe because this Ram has more features than my F150. I am also not crazy about the radio controls being on the back on the steering wheel.

Wishing the Ram 1500 and an auto start stop feature to help save a little bit of gas!

Aside from the little quirks, I loved it. The exterior is beautiful and the interior with leather is really nice as well.

Did you take notice of the gearing the truck you drove had? I would recommend trying different geared trucks to see what you like and or fits your needs. I had a 3.5 eco, I just can't see your 2.7 eco being better off the line compared to a hemi with 3.92 gears.

As for the radio buttons, you'll end up loving them there and probably the dial shifter too. ;)

I went from a Ford F-150 to a Ram R/T and love it plus I work at a Ford dealership so I know and see a lot . After driving the Ram for a little bit you'll love the radio buttons on the back of the steering wheel

The 2.7s are faster than the 3.5s off the line. They are quick as hell and will beat a hemi off the line all day. It just doesn't make much power later in the rpm range

How do you like your R/T? I've actually been considering trading my quad cab sport in for one as I maybe moving into a downtown area where parking can be tough in a full size truck, although I've made it work the couple times I've looked at some places. Figured the R/T would be better saving a little length in the truck and I would probably lower it so parking garage height would no longer be a big deal.

2 cents from a Old Fart lol.. I had a F150 Lariat 2x2 and loved the truck.. I waited several years before buying another truck. I started looking hard at Ford and Chevy. Very nice trucks and road good. Test drove the RAM IMO a smoother ride (coil Spring vs leaf springs) and for me the seat was more comfortable. I have a blown out back and even on a 6 hr ride I still do OK.. I also like the body style on the RAM a bit better ! And finally I picked up a 2015 Used Ram past Nov. Cheaper the a 2013/14 Ford or Chevy ! All in all you can not go wrong with RAM,FORD or CHEVY/GMC they all have pros and cons.
Would I but another RAM,FORD or CHEVY ? Yes Yes Yes what ever floats my boat when I am buying lol Good luck in your search

Hey guys,
New to this forum, looking for some input!

I currently drive a 2015 Ford F150 2.6L TwinTurbo ecoboost V6. It's a lease and my lease is almost up! It's a 4x2 and my next truck (which I will be purchasing) will be a 4x4.

I love the way my Ford Drives. I've test driven a Ram in the past and not to bash on Dodge, but the 2.6 EB engine on the F150 is a lot quicker off the line. Pretty damn zippy for a truck. Not to mention I average 20mpg mixed city and highway.

I recently was talking to a buddy of mine who drove Ford for a while and switched to Ram and says he LOVES it so I started looking more into the Ram lineup. I do like the more 'quality' feel of the interior of the Rams. The exterior body I like as well, but not any more than I like the appearance of the F150.
Just curious if anyone else on this forum has switched from Ford to Ram and wanted your honest input on the experience.

I'm currently looking at a 2017 Ram 1500 Sport Night Edition 4x4 with the 5.7L Hemi. Stickered at about $53,500. On sale for 42,500 with rebates on top of the dealer discount.

If I do end up purchasing this Ram, I will be financing. Aside from switching to Ram trucks, I was also wondering if you guys think this would be a good deal? Or can I get a better price? Here's a link to the truck;
New 2017 Ram 1500 For Sale | Huntington Beach CA | 1C6RR7MT3HS749618

Any and all input would be much appreciated. Thanks!
 welcome!
If its any consolation, If I couldn't drive a RAM I'd settle for a Ford way befroe Chubby or Toyota.
If you're not too picky October is the time to snatch a deal on a model year leftover RAM. Big discounts and motivated sales staff at end of month.

I converted my father from Ford over to Ram. He had a 2013 Lariat with the 3.5, so granted it wasn't the newest body style. He bought it brand new in 2013. After I bought my 2013 Ram 1500 Longhorn, and he got to ride in it a few times, and he became jealous. In late 2015, he bought a leftover new 2015 Ram 1500 Laramie. He has not looked back since, even with the new Ford body style and interior.

So many things are subjective, but I feel that Ford and GM are just now catching up to Ram's interior quality/comforts, and Ram has had mostly the same interiors since the 2013 refresh.

One thing I found surprising in this thread is a few people liking Ford Sync over uConnect. Again, subjective, but the majority of people I've read articles from prefer the uConnect. Even the almighty (insert sarcasm) Consumer Reports, which traditionally does not like FCA products, gives the uConnect system 2nd rank over all automotive infotainment systems (or at least did until recently, haven't checked in a while). Only thing that beat it was BMW's system, if I recall correctly. Ford Sync is usually ranked towards the bottom of the systems. However, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto coming more widespread into the market may affect all that.

As a few others here stated, I would buy a Ford before I went with a GMC product.

I love it so far I had a extended cab F150 before but it's just me and my wife so I saw no need for another extended cab or crew cab truck since the wife has a 4 door car already. I plan on lowering mine also but more for looks and handling

Ok October forsure? At the moment, this dealership (Southern California) is offering about 11k off. Which I feel is fairly decent but you guys think I can do better once October comes around? I can wait

Just my two cents to add to the discussion. Before I purchased my 2017 1500, I looked hard at a Ford F150. A buddy has a 2016 with the 2.7 Ecoboost, and I've driven it a lot. It ran & rode well and had good pickup from a standing start. Interior was ok; nothing that turned me off. I really like the aluminum body of the Fords which was why I was looking at them.
I test drove a 3.5 Ecoboost, and it had noticeably more power than the 2.7. Also test drove a 5.0. It had acceptable power, but you had to twist it to really get it to move.
Unfortunately Ford does not offer their max tow package with the V8, only with the Ecoboost.
Although the direct injected Ecoboost engines haven't experienced a rash of carbon buildup, they also aren't immune from that DI issue either. Ford addressed that in the 2017 MY by adding a 2nd injector in the intake ports of all the Ecoboost motors, which despite their claims that it reduces emissions, also serve to clean the intake ports & valves.
The deal breaker for me at least, is the internal water pump on all Ford v6's, including the Ecoboost engines. Way too many instances of those water pumps failing, dumping coolant into the engine oil and trashing the motor. Apparently not enough for Ford to issue a recall, but it is an issue.
The service manager at the Ford dealership whose vehicles I test drove in fact advised if buying an Ecoboost vehicle, have the water pump replaced at ~60K as a preventative maintenance task, which unfortunately costs ~$1800 to $2500 depending who performs the job.
All that said, I couldn't be happier with my Ram. Fit, finish is as good or better than anything I saw in the Fords, it rides better, and is more comfortable. The power of the 5.7 is super, and available down low (my truck has 3.92 gears). Would buy a Ram again in a heartbeat.

Right now you can get a Laramie for 15k off and more. Sometimes the trim you choose you will have to pay extra, just not that many sports out there. This dealership usually has around 100 trucks in stock at anytime, usually zero sports. Now they happen to have one sport and not much off the msrp. If you have to have the sport, 11k off would be good considering those facts.

I am a Ford guy still, but I love the Ram. With the coil back suspension, the good HP and gas mileage, the new 8 speed, the ridiculously low price when compared to what that truck would cost you if you bought a Ford eco boost, I don't know that I would let that truck go. But I guess if you are leasing, you will just have to play the game at the end of the lease and see what's out there.

Off the line speed will be determined by the gears. I would look at the 3.92's of that is something you desire.

Ahh, I did not know that. I thought they were just a smaller version of the 3.5 all around.

Now, the Ford is Turbo Charged, try Turbo Charging that Ram and see what you get, lol. Eco Boost is a great engine, more manu's should have went in that direction to get mpg that CAFE demands. What would a 4x4 eco boost sport comparable truck cost? 65k?

Well I haven't owned a Ford since the 2004 model but my sister has a 17 lariat and my good friend has a 16 xlt. Both of them are gorgeous inside and out, fast off the line, great mileage and what made me decide to upgrade back to a truck.

That being said even after my love affair with those 2 trucks when I found my 16 ram 1500 big horn i couldn't pass on it. I bought it used with 8k miles but with every option i wanted and could not be happier. I love this ram and the 5.7L for so many reasons. I average about 17mpg which is perfect for me. The power and torque is great could probably use a little tuning if you want to get everything you can out if it. The 5.7L is proven to be a beast and last.

I think either way you are going to get an exceptional truck but if you want a work horse for the next 10 years come get yourself a ram and enjoy the beautiful interior and smooth ride as well.

Comparing a factory boosted v6 to an aftermarket boosted v8 is apples to oranges. Terrible comparison

Well the eco boost compared to the hemi is also not apples to apples yes? Why not just state that first? too obvious?

Obviously its a hypothetical. If FCA had IHITA build a blower for the 5.7 the Ecoboost would be the Hemi's ******.

I saw you were looking a a RAM Night trim. I got mine the first week of May with the 3.92 gears and love it.

Get pretty decent mileage highway and about 16.5 while driving strictly in the city. I am also pretty heavy on the gas still since I got my Corsa exhaust put on.
