So for those of you with the 32 gallon tanks that the fuel gauge reads out incorrectly there is a fix coming soon. I was at the dealer today for the rollover recall and had them check the star case S1608000283 for any updates on the software release and this is what I got: 217aa58aacc626a417b32706c8e5cd69.jpg

Hopefully soon. Looks like 2018 for mine according to the release dates

Thanks for the info. Are you in the states or Canada?

Also wondering if this update can be done without a dealer trip or not. Will find out I guess. Only like a month away or so till early 4th quarter.

I'm in the states. I'm assuming we will take it in and they will add whatever reprogramming is needed. It was definitely getting on my last nerve towing last week. I'd run the truck down to where the fuel light would come on and sure enough each trip to the fuel pump only got 26-27 gallons in there[emoji849][emoji849]

Nice that they will be releasing an update for this, but I still find it funny that people get so worked up about it. It really isn't a big deal... I just drive mine until the "miles to empty" reads less than 20 and then fill up and it takes 28 gallons which means I have 4 more in reserve. Why is that such a problem for some people? I really don't get it lol

It isn't really a big deal. It's more of an OCD thing I guess.

With an accurate gauge the miles/kms to empty may increase. But no change to fuel mileage of course. It also will allow people to run their trucks lower in fuel but also make less trips to the pump. Trips to the pump really isn't an issue for guys driving cities where pumps are everywhere. Rural guys or those of us who make longer trips may like the comfort of knowing we can make it to that next town. Although that can be countered with hitting a pump if your under a half tank and don't run it low.

Mostly an issue for me when I'm towing. I like to get as far as I can which is the reason I had the 32 gallon tank option. Not a huge deal for regular driving but it'd be nice to keep cruising down the highway knowing I still have 5-6 more gallons in the tank instead of stopping 150 miles ahead. Of time for fuel. If that makes sense

Yesterday while out my light came on and I squeezed in 25.6 gallons, with the light on my remote start is disabled, this is what ****** me off. If it were a matter of driving with the idiot light on I can do my own calculations.

With the current setup am unable to use my remote start for two days of commuting. It is freaking hot in Florida.

I am amazed this has been going on for years with no fix. As far a you driving until it states you have 20 miles left, you realize you have probably 50-70 left.

Why make excuses for RAM, we paid a lot of money for these trucks and more for the larger tank.....

What about 2012 trucks ???

and yes, I had a 79 ramcharger that had a 35 gal tank in it, but the 21 gal tank sending unit in it from the factory......only reason I found out, the gage was bad, and I drove a wee bit too far on miles while talking on the phone, and put 33.5 gals in a 21 gal tank.......

I have the 121litre tank, and I which is the big one. At half a tank, I can fill 60 litres. At empty, I can squeeze in 10.

Yeah yours should be good. Anything after the 2016 model years seems to have the correct software calibration

If the gauge is only calibrated for 26 gallon tanks not the 32 gallons. When empty you'd still have 6 gallons of gas until empty. No need to panic. I'm going to run a test and drive it until light comes on and then see how much she'll take.

My light came on with 35-40 miles til empty but I let it go til the low fuel light came on and some. Next time I'll fill up when the light prompts and see how much it takes to fill up

My 17 Laramie has the same issue. most I've ever put in that truck was 27 gallons and that is with the needle way past the "E".

I notice they don't even cover my year. I have never been able to pump more than 28 gallons into my 32 gallon tank even when the gauge and EVIC say I'm on fumes.

I do not choose to run to true failure so I'm always sitting on 4 gallons, or the system is way off.

Same with my 2013. My Outdoorsman should be about 121 L. Most I can put in is a bit over 80L. I thought something was off.
