So, the only real issue i have with my 2015 2500 Mega Cab is that it occasionally will not turn off with the push button start. Around town it happens occasionally and has for a bout a year but have not worried to much about it. While on my 3500 mile round trip vacation to Montana this last two weeks it happened a lot. Seemed to happen real bad after long non stop drives. I get a dash reading that says "Not in Park" or whatever it says when the column shift is clearly in park. Many times i quickly shift it back into drive with foot on brake then back into park and it will turn off with the button. However, there was probably half dozen times or more it wouldn't turn off for several minutes or more.

Not sure of the cause. Has anyone else had this issue with the push button start? Was it an easy fix at the dealer? I'm not too worried as it is under warranty and i have maxcare warranty too. Just a PITA is all.

Yep both starting and shutting off. I could literally hold the switch down and it wouldn't do anything. Had switch changed out on warranty, better but not 100%.

Brought it back and they did a bunch of programming and updates, way better. Still does it once in awhile, never fails when I push the button towards the top.

sounds like the shifter isnt going to full park position. We have 2 trucks on my lot that the column shift is crazy sloppy. Out of curiosity, put the truck in neutral and see if it shuts off. This would lead me to narrow down it being the park safety switch.

Sorry to hear about this, Skrap! Shoot us a PM if you do need any help at the dealership to have this addressed.

Do this test now when the issue is not showing itself and what should it do. Turn off or not? When the original issue of not turning off i put it into neutral it should what.......? Turn off or remain on? Sorry, I'm a bit thick headed sometimes.

Thanks Kori. The local dealer is pretty decent so far so I don't expect any issues. You'll be the first to know if they start acting stupid.:happy107:

When it shut off throw it in neutral amd see if you can shut it down, then toss into park. This would indicate a switch issue for the park sensor.

Try replacing the ASR relay to see if that is it. Seems really odd it would fail so new but it's electronic relay. Hot temps maybe....

I had the same problem, turned out to be pcm, so just let the stealerships deal with it you know. It's not worth even thinking about it when you have a warranty.

Yesterday the truck would not turn off. Put in in neutral to see what would happen and it still didn't turn off. Now just need to find time to take to dealer.

Rules out the park switch. I've had a car do this in the past you could turn off the car and take out the key it would just keep running. Had to install a new ignition. The only way to kill it was to pull the coil fuse. Good luck, I'm curious to the cause.
