I purchased my new 2017 Ram 1500 Lonestar Silver last Friday night and absolutely love it. I have been reading this forum until my head wants to explode and have discovered a lot of little things I would never know without this forum.

I am looking for a list of parts of the truck that I should be looking at, noises to listen for etc... What problems seem to crop up more than others.
Just any information that will help us first time truck buyers know what to look for.

I too just bought a 2017 RAM 1500.

The one thing that I keep reading in the forum is... the infamous 3rd brake light leak (though I also read that the MY2017 has a better seal?)

I am debating if I should do a preemptive seal replacement/reinforcement?

So far the best method I like is... to remove the 3rd brake light, and use the butyl rubber to seal around it. I like the butyl rubber (used it a lot to seal newly installed speakers in the car doors.) It works and lasts, and is easy to remove in case I need to replace a bulb in the future.

What would other forum-ers recommend? Leave it as, or reseal it now?

Thanks,

My old '13 Laramie didn't leak either. So far my '17 Sport doesn't leak. My friends '16 Bighorn leaked like a **** though.

I might pull mine and dumdum around the seal, just to be sure.
