I have a regular cab black express package and of course on this package it deletes the towing package. Well I put a receiver hitch on it which was no big deal and when I'm pulling my transmission is running 205+ sometimes in temp. Does anyone else's get that high? Is that normal?

I only tow my 21 ft bass boat. It weighs about 3.5k lbs and on my last venture (3 hours each way) my trans reached 196 on the evic.

That's way more than what I'm towing, I might tow 2000lbs at one time which would be the most. I just don't want to hurt the transmission

What transmission do you have? The 8 speed runs warmer than the 6. 210 isn't that high for short amounts of time. My oil temp hitting 250+ towing worries me more.

205 seems high. Do you have a trans cooler. Just got back from a long trip towing a 25' travel trailer. Trans temp never got above 186. Oil temp hit around 235 - 240. Coolant never above 210.

No trans cooler I'm pretty sure on my truck. The black express package deletes the full towing package

I brought home a 95 Grand Marquis on a 2200lb flatbed trailer. I have an Express CC with the Hemi/8spd

my 2014 with Black Express package doesn't have the tow package but does have the transmission cooler. Are you sure you don't have it? check for one in front of your radiator. Btw, I have the 6 speed.

I'll have to double check now. I didn't notice anything but I'll go look again, anything I could do to help keep temperature down?

Thanks everyone for the information. I would assume gears would help this problem also right? I would think that would void warranty though, would installing a trans cooler if one isn't there void warranty?
